The YMCA's Prodigy Cultural Arts Program is seeking a visual artist to the fill the role of Instructor. PRODIGY is a grant-funded prevention, intervention, diversion program that serves south St. Petersburg communities. The PRODIGY Artist Instructor is responsible for instructing children ages 5-17 in cultural arts and working closely with parents, program partners and community members in a culturally diverse setting.
Provide cultural arts instruction to PRODIGY youth ages 5-17, in a culturally relevant, child-centered format.
Coordinate with Program Director to Design, Plan and Develop course curricula (through lesson plans) that identify and address prevention, intervention and diversion issues.
Formulate lesson plans such that youth are challenged to discover their personal agency through creative expressions, and to develop identifiable life skills.
Coordinate with PRODIGY program administrators to obtain necessary course materials and supplies.
Position requires Bachelors Degree or equivalent and two years experience (or equivalent in education and experience) in at least one artistic specialty.
Part-time hours: Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs, 7:30am
9:00am and 2:30pm
5:00pm. $20.00/hour. Pre-employment drug test and level II background screening required.
