Description of Duties:

SUNY Polytechnic Institute's College of Engineering invites applications for a PRODiG+ postdoctoral fellow position.

We are eager to hear from candidates with demonstrated commitments to both teaching and research, and a commitment to cultivating diversity in the university and professional work environment.

The successful candidate will 1) Demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching in one of the Department of Engineering's undergraduate programs at both the lower division level and upper division levels. 2) Have a track record of outstanding academic and scholarly achievements, 3) Will be able to participate in the development of externally funded research programs.

Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in one of the following strategic areas:

  • Materials, Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing

  • Artificial Intelligence & Information Technology

  • Smart Infrastructure & Sustainability

  • Healthcare & Well-Being

Specific duties include:

  • Develop curricula and teach for a variety of undergraduate engineering courses in both lecture and laboratory settings. Coursework would include lower and upper division engineering courses. The candidate would be responsible for all aspects of the course including grading and assessment.

  • Collaboratively assist in the development of externally funded scholarly research programs incorporating undergraduate students.

  • Advise undergraduate students and assist with a variety of student club activities.

  • Work with the engineering faculty to maintain EAC-ABET accreditation.

  • Serve the College and community through outreach activities.

Salary: $80,000

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship;

  • Have a PhD in an Engineering discipline or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date; and

  • Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

  • Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.

  • From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
