Tesla is currently seeing several strong leaders to serve as Production Supervisors at our Gigafactory 2 site located in Buffalo, NY. The Production Supervisor will report to the Production Manager and will be responsible for the safety of all personnel on the floor, meeting production demands, as well as balancing manpower and developing countermeasures on quality and equipment issues. The Production Supervisor provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to their team of Technicians, Leads and Production Associates.
Responsible for the overall Safety and 5S of their area or shift. This includes monitor to ensure that all employees comply with safety regulations and the plant's safety program.
Provide effective supervision and coaching to assigned shift/employees to achieve the required quality and production goals.
Maintain department records and inventories.
Manage the movement of product through the production area and ensure that product is in the process at all times.
Plan and organize work for smooth operations.
Ensure that standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality.
Ensure quality standards are being met throughout the entire production process and support no defects from leaving a station or team area
Define boundaries that will allow the production team to collaborate with engineering to improve product manufacturability and line productivity
Develop training programs and hiring plans for assembly team members as needed.
Assist in interviewing, hiring, and maintain necessary staffing levels.
Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel problems.
Support issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking
Provide the shift to shift communication link in order to keep all team members working toward the same goals. Communicate to employees all issues that affect the plant.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Associates Degree or demonstrated evidence of exceptional ability
3+ years of industrial supervisory or similar leadership experience in fast paced, high volume safety focused manufacturing environment.
Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing principles including 5S
Experience in selecting and developing new team members
Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills
Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekday and weekend overtime.
Fluent with common Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
