Tesla is currently seeing several strong leaders to serve as Production Supervisors at our Gigafactory 2 site located in Buffalo, NY. The Production Supervisor will report to the Production Manager and will be responsible for the safety of all personnel on the floor, meeting production demands, as well as balancing manpower and developing countermeasures on quality and equipment issues. The Production Supervisor provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to their team of Technicians, Leads and Production Associates.


  • Responsible for the overall Safety and 5S of their area or shift. This includes monitor to ensure that all employees comply with safety regulations and the plant's safety program.

  • Provide effective supervision and coaching to assigned shift/employees to achieve the required quality and production goals.

  • Maintain department records and inventories.

  • Manage the movement of product through the production area and ensure that product is in the process at all times.

  • Plan and organize work for smooth operations.

  • Ensure that standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality.

  • Ensure quality standards are being met throughout the entire production process and support no defects from leaving a station or team area

  • Define boundaries that will allow the production team to collaborate with engineering to improve product manufacturability and line productivity

  • Develop training programs and hiring plans for assembly team members as needed.

  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, and maintain necessary staffing levels.

  • Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel problems.

  • Support issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking

  • Provide the shift to shift communication link in order to keep all team members working toward the same goals. Communicate to employees all issues that affect the plant.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.


  • Associates Degree or demonstrated evidence of exceptional ability

  • 3+ years of industrial supervisory or similar leadership experience in fast paced, high volume safety focused manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing principles including 5S

  • Experience in selecting and developing new team members

  • Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills

  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)

  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekday and weekend overtime.

  • Fluent with common Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

The Quality Engineering Supervisor will manage a team of technicians and inspectors to ensure they perform at a high level while meeting the needs of the production floor and product quality. The individual will be responsible for Quality assurance related metrics for their shift. The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for performance managing their team to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability. Responsibilities * Guide and coordinate Technicians and Inspectors on shift, taking primary ownership for their training and ability to maintain conformance to quality procedures and specifications. * Interact with the manufacturing team members to determine shift priorities and allocation of labor * Drive improvement activities across the shift to increase team knowledge and capability * Support Quality Assurance/Quality Control initiatives. * Improve quality in cell and module manufacturing, help run experiments as needed. * Align with Quality engineering team to disposition material and drive to eliminate scrap and areas of low yield * Adhere to strict 5S standards and maintain cleanliness on the floor and within automation cells * Observe all safety policies during the execution of required tasks. * Complete requested activities as assigned. * Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and written/verbal instructions. * Required to work with and around hazardous areas and hazardous chemicals and materials. * Maintain quality performance metrics and drive issues to root cause solutions. * Audit manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes and procedures. * Provide coaching and training to technicians and inspectors, define goals and performance metrics. Requirements * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with evidence of exceptional ability. * Applicable documented Training and/or Certifications a plus. * Must have understanding of general manufacturing processes, Quality methodologies, and team leadership * Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, and desire to learn. * Must be adaptable in work schedule (including compressed work week and night shift) and working environment * Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization * Capable of providing constructive feedback to subordinates * Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information * Multitasks and adapts to constant change * Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required. * Able to wear all required PPE associated with required tasks * Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 10+ hours per day, wear air purifying respirator as needed for specific tasks, Lift at least 10 -20 lbs on a regular basis, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and sometimes may have to twist and bend body, Ability to climb ladders/stairs, Work in loud environment. Must be able to discern audible alarms, must be able to distinguish colors and possess accurate depth perception. * Strong aptitude with electronic and mechanic test and measurements systems. * Proficiency at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams. * Ability to use technological tools such as touch screen displays, and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data. * Prefer experience with quality methods/analysis, familiarity with process control/charts, defect identification and analysis, SPC, FMEA.
