The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) is seeking a motivated individual to join our business team in helping to serve our faculty, staff, and students in the role of Procurement Technician.
This position plays an essential role in the procurement of goods and services for the college through credit card, purchase orders, processing invoices for payment, executing sub-awards, sub-contracts, and professional/non-professional service contracts. A strong understanding of fiscal and purchasing policies, rules, and regulations will serve you well.
You will be relied upon daily to verify, monitor, and reconcile transactions. Working collaboratively to research and resolve issues promptly.
CFOS is one of the most geographically diverse units at UAF. The College is headquartered in Fairbanks with additional locations in Anchorage and our coastal facilities include the Seward Marine Center, the NOAA-UAF Kasitsna Bay Laboratory, and the Juneau Lena Point Fisheries Facility.
You will provide administrative support for exciting research in Alaska waters and throughout the world. CFOS provides professional development and career growth through UA coursework, conferences, and workshops.
To thrive in this role, you must possess knowledge of general accounting procedures (GAAP) and have accurate record-keeping skills. You will have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to a wide range of individuals and agencies.
Providing excellent customer service while adhering to best business practices. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects are required. As well as proficiency in utilizing automated accounting systems and electronic spreadsheets.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of office/administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Coursework in accounting, working knowledge of integrated financial information systems, and high-level customer service experience are a plus. Current UA Procurement Technician (PT) delegation preferred or the ability to obtain UA PT authority through on-the-job training.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks. It is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
