POSITION SUMMARY:

The Procurement Specialist serves as an expert on Procurement, web functionality, and end user behaviors. This position is responsible for creating efficiencies in business processes for all University departments through the implementation and maintenance of technology solutions and e-Procurement software. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the purchase order approval process and working with the payment team to ensure procure-to-pay process is operating in an efficient and timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates an understanding of application software technology, development methods, and their potential applicability to business problems.

Integrates third party software packages with existing systems

  • Unimarket and Banner.

Maintains and supports existing applications and software systems.

Utilizes industry research, end user feedback, and web analytics data to identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.

Partners with vendors and end users to develop technical work plans and projects.

Assesses alternative software solutions for workability and technical feasibility.

Ensures developed programs meet specifications, operate efficiently and are error free through testing.

Solves moderately complex application and programming errors; budget/departmental hierarchy chains, design and interface problems; follow up in a timely manner with all appropriate customers an IT personnel.

Works closely with Unimarket team, and other cross-functional University departments, to execute and deliver on initiatives and cost-savings opportunities.

Procures goods and services through the issuance of e-Procurement Purchase Orders (PO) and in accordance with departmental guidance and/or management strategy.

Monitors outstanding orders to facilitate completion of procure-to-pay process.

Completes other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in supply management, business or a related field from an accredited institution.

Two years of related work experience.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Knowledge of current purchasing methods and procedures and regulations governing the purchase of equipment and supplies.

Experience with purchasing management system.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
