Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the incumbent has strategic responsibility for J.B. Hunt's portfolio of capital expenditures and other corporate spend. Under the leadership of the Director or Procurement, Procurement will partner with the business to maximize company value by procuring goods and services through effective procurement practices, meeting business requirements, managing supplier relations, practicing innovative negotiation and buying methods, and efficiently paying suppliers according to agreed terms.

Job Description:


  • Strategic Sourcing. Manage assigned spend categories across all business units.

    Compile, review, and meet or exceed business unit's requirements (demand, cost, quality, service). Ensure sufficient business unit support for sourcing strategies and category/supplier implementation plans. Manage the strategic sourcing process, including stakeholder management, spend analytics, preparation and execution of negotiations, and development of final supplier recommendations.

Supplier Management: Leverage key supplier performance indicators into contracting strategies.

Manage off-cycle contract negotiations and renewals to minimize business risks and costs. Ensure well planned and seamless transition of negotiation/contracting phase to implementation phase. Ensure suppliers are performing to their contracted obligations and meeting business unit expectations.

  • Procurement Operations. Provide accurate, efficient, user-friendly procurement services to the company, including P2P and supporting transactional services, such as an online catalog system, contract compliance validation of invoices, and invoice processing automation.

    Establish and periodically review all P2P processes to ensure effective lifecycle operations. Review, update, and ensure system controls and reporting are in place to monitor/ensure compliance with P2P policies and best practices. Ensure system data integrity through appropriate internal controls. Ensure compliance to the laws, regulations, and ethical standards set by the company and applicable regulatory agencies.

  • Technology Support: Provide support for procurement related technology solutions, including, where applicable, contract management, inventory management, catalog management, procurement operations and administration, as well as interfacing with all upstream or downstream systems, such as accounts payable.

    Maintain expert-level knowledge of all existing capabilities to ensure maximum leverage of technology investments. Support systems implementation including user testing, integration testing, and process documentation.

  • Analysis, Reporting & Business Intelligence. Provide regular reporting and analysis to stakeholders regarding the company's procurement activities, spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities.

    Provide spend analytics at various levels to support strategic sourcing opportunities. Pursue proactive monitoring and reporting of KPIs to anticipate and minimize performance issues.



  • Bachelor's Degree AND 3+ years' experience in procurement and supply chain management

  • Experience with spend analytics, strategic sourcing, supplier management, negotiation, and category management

  • Expert-level financial, quantitative, and analytical skills

  • Experience with SQL and extracting data from structured data sources is a plus

  • Experience with one or more enterprise procurement systems a plus

  • Expert-level experience with Microsoft Excel and ability to leverage where necessary other reporting and analysis tools
