The#Procurement Specialist#1 purchases assigned, specialized commodities, equipment, and services for all facilities of the Health System. The position is responsible for reviewing requests, working with vendors and facility departments; examining price, suitability, and availability of items or services while comparing specifications, and reviewing alternatives to request to fulfill value analysis or other objectives. This position relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and works under general supervision# Job Summary Purchases commodities, equipment and services products, services, and equipment through a computerized system Prepares paperwork for Product Analysis Committee reviews as appropriate Resolves issues related to orders which include discrepancies of pricing, receiving, freight issues, service approvals and accounts payable discrepancies Reviews requested orders to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing formulary, policies and procedures Reviews requests which vary from approved standards or formulary and sources the most cost effective vendos# Open invoice issues consisting of price, quantity, receiving, or other related differences that have caused the invoice not to close out the purchase order# Required Experience 4 yrs related experience (Bachelor#s degree substitutes for all required experience)# Required Education HS Diploma or equivalent # #16925

The Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired (LSDVI) includes two Louisiana Special Schools (LSS) recognized as elementary and secondary school systems. Both schools occupy the same campus servicing students throughout the state who are deaf, hard of hear hearing and/or visually impaired. LSDVI operates seven days a week 24 hours a day on 116 acres and includes 22 building with 486,029 square feet under roof. There are 8 computer labs set up throughout campus for student learning. The network is multiplatform with Windows, Linux and Novell servers. All buildings are connected through fiber optic cable with category cable internal. Approximately 400 pc's are connected along with printers, scanners, document cameras, projectors and smartboards. Multiple software packages are run including Microsoft Office, GroupWise, JPAMS and many other educational and business packages. The schools video network is also a part of Information Systems. Announcements, live broadcasts, video editing and tapings are performed. The school has and supports IP videophones as well as any other video communication equipment. Physical Activity Level - 4: Some work requires moderate effort and some will require brief periods in which heavy muscular exertion and strenuous physical exertion in climbing, lifting objects over 50 pounds or crouching or crawling in restricted areas is required.
