We are seeking a Procurement Manager, Category Sourcing to develop and implement sourcing strategies and programs meant to identify, evaluate, and maintain a vendor network.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 1-5 procurement Professionals

  • Create and manage category roadmaps for a single, complex category or multiple categories, including a Preferred Supplier List (PSL), schedule for competitive bids and renegotiation activities and regular interlock with internal functional clients and stakeholders

  • Develop Category(ies) Sourcing Strategies to identify a Preferred Supplier List (PSL) that meet the organization's quality, cost or service requirements.

  • Own and execute competitive bid events to evaluate and select supplier partners to provide goods or services to support the HMS business. Ensure standards are continuously met after the purchase

  • Define value add metrics, including savings targets, efficiency, business controls and risk management and own achievement of interlocked targets for a specific category.

  • Manage Contracting and negotiations process by partnering with the business stakeholder and contracts team.

  • Manage PO creation process and ensure proper set up and linkage between sourcing, contracting and payment processes.

  • Review organizational purchases and identify opportunities for cost reduction through Supplier consolidation using approved Fair Value methods.

  • Acts as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external suppliers, maintaining relationships and ensuring satisfaction

  • Support policy creation and process innovation across the Procurement team.

  • Maintains industry knowledge to support supplier identification and execution.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiar with procurement systems and systems management

  • Ability to plan strategically while supporting daily tactical activities

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Experience executing Procurement Category Strategies, including roadmap creation, relationship management and RFx execution.

  • Strong Project Management, Business analysis and reporting expertise

  • Customer and supplier relationship building and management skills

  • Leadership, interpersonal skills, and influencing skills

  • Advanced organizational ability, planning and prioritization skills

  • Ability to multitask

  • PeopleSoft and Ariba experience a plus

  • Results oriented with creative problem solving capabilities

Work Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Primarily sedentary work in a general office environment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange information

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret documents and data

  • Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, and moving objects (up to 10 lbs.)

  • Requires manual dexterity to use computer, telephone and peripherals

  • May be required to work extended hours for special business needs

  • May be required to travel at least 10% of time based on business needs

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting required

Minimum Related Work Experience:

  • 5-7 years' experience in a Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or Buyer role related to indirect goods and services

  • Experience with Services procurement required

  • Experience in category sourcing required

  • Prior management experience preferred

About this role: Experienced Procurement and/or Marketing professional responsible for developing category plans, leading RFx initiatives and negotiating complex contracts on behalf of Gartner's Marketing, Digital Markets, Creative COE and Sales business units. What you'll do: * Work collaboratively with geographically dispersed stakeholders to develop strategic category plans for the Marketing, Digital Markets, Creative COE and Sales categories. Gain alignment on sourcing/negotiation strategies and short/long term category roadmaps. * Serve as the Procurement SME for your stakeholders and guide them on strategic sourcing and operational procurement processes. Communicate frequently and often. Proactively seek ways to reduce costs and improve efficiencies. * Maintain knowledge of current category trends, vendor capabilities and changes within the supplier and technology landscape for traditional and emerging solutions. * Lead cross-functional teams through a disciplined sourcing process. Facilitate stakeholders through developing requirements, evaluating suppliers and supplier selection using good project management skills. Ensure all sourcing initiatives are conducted in a fair and ethical manner which provides a level playing field for all participants. * Develop negotiation plans aligned with stakeholder desired outcomes for TCO, SLAs and key business terms. Demonstrate competency and knowledge of contract development, key contracting principles, standard terms, laws/regulations and industry standards during contract negotiations. * Organize data sets and develop meaningful analysis of spend, cost and performance metrics. Present compelling business cases to influence decision-makers at all levels of the organization. * Manage compliance during all phases the contracting process. Coordinate with Gartner Legal, Finance, IT Security and Ombudsman when needed. Ensure all Third-Party Risk Management checks are complete prior to contract signature. Route contracts for approval and signature as required by Gartner policy. * Guide stakeholders on preferred suppliers. Conduct routine planning sessions with your business unit customers to ensure addressable spend in your assigned categories is with contracted vendors and considered "managed". * Optimize supplier performance through contract compliance, continuous improvement, innovation and TCO reduction.
