Job Summary

The Procurement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing all procurement activities for non-resale products and services throughout the company, including product and supplier research, developing bid requirements and statements of work, supplier selection, monitoring supplier performance, contract management, and inventory control. Ensures Carolina Handling receives the best value in its purchases: products and services matched to needs, quality, warranty, lead times, and cost. This position is also responsible for effectively supporting the company's vehicle fleet and technician tool outfitting and replenishment programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the successful procurement of non-resale products and services used by the company, including but not limited to:

o Maintenance, Repair and Operation items (MRO)

o Office supplies and equipment (fax machines, postage meters, etc.)

o Technician van tools and setup materials

o Company vehicles

o Company uniforms

o Contracts for all buyer agreements, leases, and facilities maintenance services

  • Acts as the Concur Administrator for expense reporting, company card increases and other card related procurement needs

  • Tracks and reports Purchasing Department monthly key measurements to Procurement Supervisor (expense reporting)

  • Manage corporate vehicle set ups including creating Wex cards, Enterprise data updates, processing new vehicles upon arrival, set up transportation of company vehicles to new associates

  • Van kit ordering for new associates, set up in third party systems for ordering parts/tools in their role

  • Assists with corporate projects as assigned or required.

  • Monitors and evaluates supplier performance and addresses concerns

  • Maintains Purchasing Warehouse Inventory and Storage Area, ensuring accurate and sufficient inventory levels, and maintaining the Purchasing Storage Area in a clean and organized manner.

  • Tracks and reports Purchasing Department monthly key measurements to Procurement Supervisor

  • Vehicle/Fleet Management

o Managing the loaner/rental set-ups, coordinating with the Procurement team for available vehicles

o Pay speeding violations

o NC inspection emails and state transfers

o Update WexSystem with new hires

o Vehicle remarkets

o Manage recalls and update spreadsheet

o Manage NC QuickPass and Southern Connector

  • Assists with corporate projects as assigned or required.

  • Continually keeps informed on new products and services by interviewing representatives, reading trade journals and related publications, and making visits to local supplier facilities.

  • Actively pursues professional growth and participates in professional trade association: Institute of Supply Management (ISM)

  • All other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

All potential hires are subject to pre-employment checks which include but are not limited to background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record checks.

  • Minimum requirement of an Associate or Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations or Business Administration.

  • CPSM/CPM; CPIM; or APICS certification strongly preferred.

  • Required minimum of three year experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain Operations; additional experience in business operations preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job unless it causes undue hardship.

This position is classified as sedentary work, which requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods while occasionally moving within the office to complete tasks. Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary for computer operation, writing, and handling materials. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While the role involves regular interaction with internal and external customers in a dynamic office environment, occasional exposure to shop environments and associated hazards may occur. The individual must effectively manage tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and a high volume of information flow while maintaining professionalism. Additionally, handling sensitive and confidential information is part of the job. Standard office equipment such as laptops and smartphones are regularly utilized, and noise levels typically range from low to moderate.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to other facilities in our territory may be required.
