Position Title: Procurement COE- Project Manager

Reports to: VP- Sourced Finished Goods

Location: Norwalk, CT

Job Summary:

The Newell Brands Procurement Center of Excellence is tasked driving five keys areas across Newell Brands $10B+ of Procurement Spend. These five areas are: Project Management Office, Procurement Analytics, Procurement Execution (P2P), Supplier Development, and Capability Building. During this transformational time at Newell Brands, the COE is focused on bringing process and structure to maximize the delivery of value of Procurement to the Business.

As part of the Procurement Center of Excellence, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing, under supervision, a cross-functional team to execute strategic sourcing activities. Activities will include but are not limited to: RFI/P/Q execution, product transfers, asset transfers, recapitalization activities, VAVE opportunities and repatriation initiatives. The objective will be to deliver activities to cost, schedule and scope requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Develops and maintains timing and action plan for projects

  • Monitors project profit and loss (P&L) and key drivers that affect overall program financial health to ensure projects meet established objectives (e.g. margins, costs, revenue, etc.)

  • Understands what program success is and drives path forward to achieve success in the timeliest and cost effective manner

  • Follows best practices to attain project scope excellence to cross-functional team clarity of vision, goals, and expectations

  • Coordinates necessary data acquisition to provide strategic direction for solving problems

  • Uses a systematic approach to identify problems, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement solutions

  • Prepares project status and risks to provide proper level of detail and recover plans

  • Challenges and provides constructive mitigation strategies

  • Supports cadence and techniques to run efficient meetings

  • Participates on cross-functional teams to work seamlessly across boundaries of company, culture, and geography for successful project execution

  • Follows standardized guidelines and templates to ensure robust project plans and maintains documentation

  • Collaborates with team members to identify project risks and recommend potential mitigation plans

  • Collaborates with cross functional team to develop timing and action plan for projects


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics or related field required

  • 5+ years' of experience in project management (consumer products experience preferred) with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial related role

  • Demonstrates familiarity with basic structured project management methodologies (e.g., Critical Path)

  • Demonstrates familiarity with basic manufacturing processes and production planning

  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrates basic business financial knowledge

  • Demonstrates proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint)

  • Demonstrates ability to manage constructive and cooperative working relationships

  • Demonstrates sensitivity and acts appropriately with varying cultural societies

  • Demonstrates ability to support the needs of and interact appropriately with cross-functional personnel

  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills

  • Demonstrates self-confidence

  • CPSM, CSCP or related professional designation highly desired

  • Experience with currency and commodity tracking

Qualifications / Requirements * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Graphic Arts, Marketing, Advertising or related field * Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) preferred * 8+ years progressive Business, Graphic Arts, Marketing, or Advertising experience * 5+ years in a leadership role * Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required. * High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications. * Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills. * Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning). * Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts. * Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients. * Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. * Ability to work with and influence peers and management. * Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
