Job Description:

Position Overview

The Procurement Category Manager is a key contributor to the serviceability of Siemens's customer owned vehicles by securing ongoing supply of direct materials required throughout the vehicle's lifecycle. This position is in the Mobility CS Department which provides long term maintenance, repairs and aftermarket parts for Siemens Light Rail, Passenger Locomotives and Passenger Coaches throughout North America.

This position is located in McClellan, CA. This role will report into the Strategic Procurement Manager for Mobility, Customer Service Business U.S.


The Procurement Category Manager is responsible for executing departmental objectives including but not limited to:

  • Sourcing Supplier selection and eEvents

  • Negotiation Contractual and Pricing

  • Analysis Spend and opportunity

  • Supplier Management Drive performance and innovation

  • Generate, document and implement savings

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

BS/BA in related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum 5 years of successful experience in, and related to, the Strategic Sourcing or Category/ Commodity Management

You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective pricing strategies and market evaluations while supporting the proposal development process in response to new business opportunities. In this role, you will work closely with other key executive stakeholders including finance, marketing and senior operational leadership. Responsibilities * Develop new or refine current pricing strategies and methods to adapt to market dynamics * Support the proposal process to include content design, development, and review. * Support proposal development documentation (outline, page allocation, team assignments, proposal management plan, schedule, kick-off meeting materials, writing templates, data calls). * Participate in the development and review of proposal strategies and themes, and develop a Proposal Management Plan. * Ensure high-quality content and appearance of the final proposal product and the on-time delivery of the proposal. * Ensure effective and comprehensive proposal readiness, including executing pre-proposal efforts that effectively transition to the win strategy efforts. * Collaborate with key stakeholders and executive leadership to gain an appropriate understanding of the win strategy and to ensure the response clearly conveys the proper business perspective, key messages, value proposition, and differentiators against our competition. * Contribute to new service and product development planning and management. * Define and direct marketing programs for demand creation, lead generation and for lead tracking and management. * Understanding company service offerings, experience, and capabilities. * Assist with other duties as assigned. Qualifications RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience in business development or proposal management * Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles. * Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with key stake holders to produce compliant, compelling, competitive, and winning proposal sections in a highly demanding and dynamic work environment. * Must possess great communications skills * Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
