About the Opportunity: Amcor Flexibles is seeking two full-time summer internships that will commence in May AND/OR June 2019 and will give the selected student(s): a challenging project-based work experience, the opportunity to learn about the Amcor Flexibles business, the flexible packaging industry, and receive mentorship from professionals in your area of study. You can expect to gain real world experience with an industry leader and will be expected to take full ownership of tasks and/or projects.

Critical Projects You Will Lead and/or Participate In:

  • Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies (MRO)

  • Participate in project team to consolidate MRO suppliers across manufacturing sites.

  • Create tools to track project progress and establish project savings.

  • Develop dashboard for management that shows compliance to preferred suppliers as well as identifies and quantifies rogue spend.

  • Help to identify savings opportunities on high runner MRO items.

  • SuppLearn to lead team meetings to review dashboard data and set corrective actions.

  • Serve as point with sites to remedy tactical issues with MRO suppliers.

  • Automate process to generate reports and dashboards.

  • Integrated Facilities Management (IFM)

  • Serve as point to lead one or more waves of supplier standardization across a specific facilities category area (e.g. uniforms, janitorial, pesticide).

  • Develop a project plan with milestones in collaboration with the IFM supplier.

  • Learn how to create a communication plan and change management plan for the specific category transition.

  • Lead telecalls under direction of manager with IFM site points to implement the project.

  • Provide status updates on progression of the wave.

  • Identify savings and continuous improvement efficiencies resulting from the changes.

  • Secondary Packaging

  • Participate in project team to standardize secondary packaging across all Amcor Flexibles Americas sites.

  • Support the standardization how all secondary packaging is itemized in SAP.

  • Participate in any training required to support any new process and/or vendor for secondary packaging.

  • Direct Change Management Control

  • In conjunction with the Supplier Quality Manager, provide updates to the change management forms and liaise with suppliers on completion.

  • Develop and provide dashboard updates of progress against plan.

  • Liaise across procurement, quality and external supplies to remedy issues.

  • Assist with audits, analyze data and provide a means to communicate progress and results across sites.

  • Acquisition Integration of Direct Materials/Films

  • Assist with film specification development and standardization.

  • Laise with suppliers, procurement and plant technical for sampling and testing.

  • Develop tracking tools and dashboard reports for change projects.

  • Assist with RFP development, launch and analysis.

What You'll Do:

  • Learn and gain exposure to global packaging manufacturing industry

  • Participate as a multidisciplinary member of various cross functional teams

  • Take leadership over at least one critical project

  • Assess and identify improvement opportunities in an analytical way

  • Assist with the standardization of key process related to procurement

  • Work with other functional teams such as finance, marketing, sales, IT, and production. May interface with external customers and suppliers as needed

  • Challenge the status quo to improve and / or design new processes

  • Analyze and size both quantitative and qualitative impact of proposed improvement

  • Facilitate the integration with existing Amcor technology platforms and any new designed analytical tools

  • Engage with both central procurement team and leadership team at manufacturing sites to make recommendations and complete projects as assigned.

What We Require:

  • Actively enrolled in Sophomore or Junior year in a Bachelors Program and/or a Senior going to Graduate school or first year Graduate level in a technical field of study such as Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, Procurement or related field of study.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills and interest in process improvement

  • Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word

  • Must be flexible and able to work overtime when required

  • Must be highly organized and able to effectively prioritize

  • Ability to work well independently under direction and also in a team setting

  • High attention to detail

The position is responsible for data mining, analyzing and interpreting information obtained across various business software systems, public databases and other sources. The position collates the information to provide accurate and complete data sets as input for development of forecasts, Requests for Quotations, negotiations, procurement strategies, order optimization, and other procurement tools. In collaboration with the category managers, the individual is involved in the development and implementation of category strategies in such areas as: Resins, Films, Liquids, Facility Services, Secondary Packaging, Capital Purchases, Utilities and Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO). The Procurement Analyst is directly responsible for the maintenance of pricing updates within the business systems. Job Dimensions: * 10 – 15% domestic travel. * US emphasis. * Strong collaboration with Global Procurement as well as regional business groups across the world. Principal Accountabilities: * Collect economic data from applicable data sources to prepare and maintain pricing trend data on key commodities for reports to internal team as well as business leadership. Build an accurate forecast for category price movements. * Coordinate price changes in systems through use of published indices and manage communications with impacted sites and suppliers. * Maintain purchase contracts and vendor master data in the SAP system. * Support Procurement leadership and co-workers in all data requests. Use analytic techniques to support procurement projects. Establish and maintain communication channels with leadership, key team members and internal business units for data gathering, validation, analysis and reporting. Enlist benchmarking to identify best practices and next stage improvement areas. * Gather data across several source systems to populate and report progress via supplier scorecards and internal dashboards. * Conduct market analysis through generation of supplier lists, creation of Requests for Quotation and identification of key evaluation data elements. Participate in the evaluation plan to determine the feasibility of the bid/tender using qualitative techniques. Analyst and report bid response data in suitable formats for ease of comparison and selection. * Provide negotiation support to category managers. Support analysis and evaluation of complex bid award scenarios. Determine savings calculations and forecasts. Perform scenarios and sensitivity analysis to obtain input or buy-in from internal stakeholders and leadership. * Create tender packages as well as comprehensive supplier evaluation models, such as total cost of ownership analysis, scenario modelling, financial modelling and sensitivity analysis. * Prepare market research reports for specific industries and categories. * Track and report savings, support procure-to-pay process improvement and monitor cost savings as well as working capital improvements using the tracking tools in place. * Identify gaps in policies, processes and procedures leading to incorrect data and propose solutions and lead cross functional teams to execute proposed solutions. Major challenges & complexities: * Work concurrently on multiple and complex projects. * Build constructive relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their business and procurement needs. * Ability to work collaborate and build strong relationship across the organization (such as Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, IT) to ensure understanding and compliance with key procurement strategies. * Effectively liaise with multiple stakeholders having, at times, conflicting needs and priorities. * Develop trust within the businesses so that, where there are conflicting priorities or other issues, manage these to ensure that all involved understand the issues and agree with the solutions put forward. * Develop supplier relationships in a way that encourages open dialogue and cooperating in identifying and implementing win-win situations that add value to both organizations. Qualifications/Requirements Knowledge & Experience: * 3+ years of relevant work experience. * SAP and/or other ERP systems experience as an advantage. * Proficient user of Microsoft Excel required (experience with pivot tables, v-look ups, programming, macros, sorts and filters). * Experience with CliqView, Tableau, Alteryx or similar tools to analyze large data sets is an advantage. * Adept in MS PowerPoint and MS Word intermediate level at minimum. * Relevant experience in a company with a mature procurement function / manufacturing organization preferred. Education & Certifications: * Bachelor's level degree in Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain or equivalent. * Master's Degree as an advantage. * Certification in MS Excel, SAP, Tableau or other tools as an advantage. Skills/Abilities/Behaviours: * Strong understanding and demonstrated commitment to ethical procurement behaviour. * Attention to detail. Able to communicate data concepts and issues clearly * Excellent quantitative analysis and analytical skills. Self-directed to problem-solving. * Strong action/results orientation with the ability to work with minimal oversight, to be self-motivated and proactive in achieving individual/team objectives. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to articulate views convincingly and influence internal clients and external suppliers. * Demonstrated understanding of working in a complex environment and interaction with other functions and business groups. * Working knowledge of purchasing processes and supplier quality systems. * Financial acumen and familiarity with business accounting terms as an advantage.
