3M is seeking a Procurement Administrator for the Detcon/3M-The Woodlands, Personal Safety Division located in The Woodlands, TX. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Procurement Administrator will follow defined procedures within sourcing areas such as raw materials, supplies, equipment, services, and process/transactional.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Follows a variety of generally defined procedures within sourcing areas such as raw materials, supplies, equipment, services, process/transactional, etc. Generally, assignments are made up of a series of activities with some short-term projects.

    The scope for discretion requires judgment to handle a variety of activities, conditions, processes, or operations. Sets own work priorities in cooperation with the manager/supervisor. Incumbent is expected to offer suggestions for improvement to methods and processes.

  • Provides guidance or training to co-workers within the same work group on routine support duties, technical requirements, protocol, policy and procedures.

  • Handles problems which require identifying some solutions, selecting from alternative courses of action, with greater adaptation to circumstances as necessary. Most complex problem solving may require gathering facts, analyzing the information, and determining the appropriate solution from multiple options. Has a major impact on the support activities of the direct work group/team, and begins to affect related activities within connected work groups/teams.

  • Working tasks might include:

a. Sources requisitions to purchase orders with the appropriate suppliers.

b. Coordinates shipping schedules and delivery.

c. Trains support employees on the use of sourcing systems.

d. Updates pricing, delivery information, and commodity database as needed.

e. Tracks, analyzes, and summarizes data on supplier performance.

f. May handle match exceptions in the payables process.

  • Primary contacts are typically internal on a co-worker or professional level.

  • Interaction is focused on answering routine and non-routine questions. Exchanges information with an audience which is typically knowledgeable in the subject area.

    Acts as department support by providing interpretation of support procedures and processes. Identifies alternative Sources of Supply (SOS) as required for price and risk mitigation strategies. Drives the validation of alternatives with guidance from supervisor as needed.

  • May assist and/or influence others in buying, developing specification or Statements of Work (SOW).

  • Handles material rejects, delivery or transportation problems and invoice discrepancies

  • Creates and administers moderately complex requests for proposal (RFP's), information (RFI), quotes (RFP), etc.

  • Works with supplier to determine root cause of purchase order and/or payment issues; develops and implements solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Degree/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of five (5) combined years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Sourcing and/or Purchasing in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree/Technical Diploma or higher in Supply Chain or Procurement from an accredited institution

  • APIC Certification

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of Supply Chain, Procurement, Sourcing or Purchasing in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Skills include Window 10 environment, proficient at Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and M2M.

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Travel: May include up to 5%

Relocation: Is not authorized
