Responsibilities

  • Facilitate receipt of cellular therapy products by reviewing processing and collection order forms, forwarding forms to clinical apheresis team as applicable, communicating by email and phone with client transplant centers to schedule transport of products to the lab and to obtain and provide required documents,

  • Process HPC, Apheresis, HPC, marrow and parathyroid tissue by following established procedures for aseptic technique, including but not limited to, cell and volume reduction, cryopreservation of viable products

  • Perform calculations, including, but not limited to cell concentrations in products, dilutions required for cryopreservation and dispensing requested therapeutic doses of cells, volumes of cells needed for infusion, and viabilities.

  • Prepares units for shipment to transplant center .

  • Prepare labels, reports, and shipping containers for shipments. Retrieves products from storage and confirms identity of the products. Packs products in appropriately prepared shipping containers. Release the products to courier for shipment to transplant center.

  • Compliance with FDA, NYSDOH regulations, AABB and FACT standards, and other applicable requirements, regulations and standards.

  • Perform daily weekly, monthly and annual QC on laboratory equipment and freezers as described in the laboratory SOPs.

  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with FDA's Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Tissue practices regulations as well as standards set by other accreditation agencies including but not limited to FACT, FACT/Netcord, CAP, CLIA. Document deviations and events; notify supervisor, technical and quality management personnel in timely manner.

  • Ensure that patient charts contain all necessary documents and lab reports as described in laboratory SOPs. Accurately maintain and enter data in the current laboratory computer system (i.e., excel spreadsheets and Stem Soft software). Obtain patient test results from other laboratories.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or physical Science required

  • 0 to 2 years' experience working in reseach or clincal laboratory.

  • NY State Clinical Laboratory Technician License (preferred)

  • ASCP preferred

  • Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines for cell therapy clinical trials.

  • Knowledge of processing, purging, cryopreserving, thawing and preparing cellular therapy products for infusion/transplantation.

  • Aseptic/sterile technique

  • Skill in pipetting.

  • Ability to learn scientific processes in an expedient manner.

  • Strong mathematical skills necessary to calculate cell concentrations.

Healing made personal.</p><p>Roles &amp; Responsibilities:</p><p>SPD Technician II are multi-skilled personnel who are responsible and accountable for all duties related to cleaning and decontamination of general and specialty surgical instruments, power equipment, endoscopes, and sterilization. They are responsible for the preparation &amp; packaging of general instruments and for two surgical instrument specialties; quality control testing and monitoring of sterilization equipment, maintaining records, and preparation and dispatch of surgical cases. The level II technician must have a knowledge of surgical instrumentation and must be able to assemble surgical trays with a count sheet. They may perform assigned duties such as answering phones, cleaning, stocking, transporting, and dispensing supplies and equipment.</p><p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p><p>1.Demonstrates knowledge of decontamination, disinfection and cleaning methods. Exhibits knowledge in determining the methods to be used to care for instruments: hand washing, mechanical washing or disinfection, especially in removal of protein and corrosion. Thoroughly disassembles instruments and equipment for cleaning and ensures all bio-burden material is removed. Inspects important points in instruments and equipment to ensure they are functioning properly and there is no damage. Operates and troubleshoots cleaning equipment. Maintains OSHA safety standards.</p><p>2.Demonstrates knowledge of preparation and assembly, inspection and packaging of general and two specialty instrument services. Selects and inspects all the required instruments for each set used in the OR; arranges them in the proper sequence and in a manner for effective sterilization; adds the sterilization integrator, adds the assembly list, wraps, seals, and/or containerize; labels each set appropriately. Thoroughly inspects all instruments for sharpness, functionality and integrity. Utilizes resources available to replace faulty/missing instruments and/or contacts the Instrument Coordinator for replacement.</p><p>3.Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization processes, documentation, storage, and delivery of sterile packages. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding by explanation of the function and operation of all sterilization processes as well as understands the sterilizer mechanical/chemical indicators.</p><p>4.Effectively enters, modifies and searches information in the instrument tracking system. Accurately incorporates the scanning of all tasks, transactions and sets processed into the daily record.</p><p>5.Incorporates infection control guidelines during the transferring, storing and transporting of sterile packages</p><p>Requirements:</p><p>Education:</p><ul><li><p>High school diploma or equivalent. Requires knowledge of reading, writing, and math normally acquired through high school education.</p></li><li><p>Current certification (CRCST) required.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrates ability to work well with others as part of a team.</p></li><li><p>Good communication and interpersonal skills.
