Johnson Electric (JE) is excited to announce that we are now recruiting for a Senior Process/Design Engineering for our Vandalia, OH location. In this role you will design new products and processes within the flexible laminated cable business unit. Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor existing process engineering technician(s).
  • Coordinates with sales and customer service to understand the upcoming product mixture.
  • Creates raw material specifications for existing materials.
  • Creates material validation processes for new material suppliers including PPAP.
  • Creates drawings for new custom cable designs and releases for production.
  • Coordinates with sales and customer service to develop new product designs from concept to production.
  • Identifies process requirements and develops new processes to assure robust production process.
  • Define and source required equipment and/or tooling required to reliably produce product.
  • Documentation of all development & processes for new products, including PFMEAs, Process capability studies, DOEs, Process verification reports, IQ/OQ/PQ reports, Work Instructions & control plans.
  • Participate in design reviews to develop and propose preferred and capable manufacturing processes and feedback on the manufacturability to reach a good Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Training of direct labor in newly developed processes to ensure smooth transition to production
  • Be an active member of a cross functional team (CFT) for new product development.
  • Observes all company policies, procedures involving confidentiality, safety, and ethics

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated processes including Robotics, PLCs, and Vision systems
  • Should be familiar with DFA/DFM concepts, DFMEA development, basic mechanical and electrical engineering theory
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Product Launch experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing new product development environment
  • Experience as an engineering manager or mentor

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ Years of experience working as a Design Engineer
  • 5+ Years of experience working as a Process Engineer
  • Experience as an engineering manager or mentor

This position supports all aspects of JMT manufacturing, with the primary focus on existing medical assemblies and new medical products in the developmental stages. This support consists of working with Product Development Engineers (PDE's) in the early phases of JEPDS to assure manufacturability, as well as improvements to support scale-up of existing products. With this early definition of the production requirements, the Process Development Engineer identifies, evaluates and recommends the required capital equipment, as well as develops any new processes which may be required prior to product release, minimizing the time required to transition to production. For medical products the JMT Toll Gate Process is also a requirement. Responsibilities: * Work with product development engineers during development phase to understand product, and identify process requirements. Develop new processes to assure robust production process * Contribute in the development of current additive manufacturing methods for High volume production. * Monitor existing processes and drive continuous improvement * Define and source required equipment and/or tooling required to reliably produce product. * Documentation of all development & processes for new products, including; PFMEA's, Process capability studies, DOE's, Process verification reports, IQ/OQ/PQ reports, Work Instructions & control plans * Participate in design reviews to develop and propose preferred and capable manufacturing processes and feedback on the manufacturability in order to reach a good Design for Manufacturing (DFM) * Training of direct labor in newly developed processes to ensure smooth transition to production * Leading improvement, plan, develop, revise and document existing manufacturing processes to meet cost, quality, scrap, capacity & safety goals.
