The Scientific & Operational Effectiveness (SOE) Systems Enabling Process, Transformation & Continuous Improvement Lead Scientist fosters, inspires, and enables our DSRD colleagues to adopt new ways of working that accelerate our performance and Digital Strategy through optimized, simplified and sustainable processes, technologies and procedures.
Establish a vision and strategy for prioritizing, implementing, and maintaining data-driven process improvements within DSRD
Ensure visibility and clarity of the organization's key scientific and business processes, data flow, data standards, analytical engines and pipelines
Facilitate the analysis of our key processes and engage our colleagues in identifying problems, unnecessary complexity and opportunities so that innovative and regulatory compliant solutions can be surfaced; recommend business and technical solutions to improve operational effectiveness.Create/ update process and data flow models
Eliminate unnecessary complexity in our work through streamlining our business processes and simplifying and leveraging technology
Identify risks and issues in scientific and business processes, data and systems
Utilize proven continuous improvement methods to pilot ideas, and deliver bottom line, quantified results
Foster a culture of continuous improvement that will be achieved through team building, education/ coaching and enabling people to solve problems and bring forth ideas
Be an active and visible change agent, fostering a flexible and open mindset to new opportunities and continuous improvement
Collaborate with members of the Strategic Implementation Team and Pfizer Digital to help assess impact to processes, people, data integrity, and systems - before a project is endorsed
Collaborate across DSRD and WRD lines, working in strong partnership with our key stakeholders (e.g. Pfizer Digital, upstream/downstream Partner Lines)
Bachelor's degree with a preference in Science or Engineering related field
12+ years' experience working within the pharmaceutical/ drug development R&D industry and/or related experience in these areas
A process design expert on cross-functional process design and modeling, facilitation of process mapping and implementation of new processes using innovative and effective methodologies
Solid understanding of available Lean/CI tools with demonstrated application experience (e.g. GE Workout, A3, Value Stream Mapping, Critical Path Method, Kaizen events, etc.)
Strong communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence across functions and at all levels of an organization
Demonstrated organized and structured thinking and execution, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust priorities as needed in order to meet deadlines, demonstrating a high level of independent judgment and proactivity
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence others, negotiate during situational conflict, and establish the best forward path in the face of competing points of view
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact
Ability to present and communicate complex ideas clearly, succinctly and easily understandable to stakeholders
Master's degree preferred
Continuous Improvement Education or Certification (Kaizen Facilitation, Lean, Six Sigma)
Data/ tech savvy would be a plus; be able to "speak" the digital language as well as the language of our customers
Non-standard work schedule, travel or environmental requirements
This role requires the ability to work on site and travel (10%-15%) to other DSRD sites: Groton, CT, Andover MA, Cambridge MA, La Jolla CA
