Process Technician

Front Half Grave: Sun, Mon, Tues & every other Sat: 6pm-6:30am

Bldg 7

Position Summary:

Responsible for the proper set-up and utilization of equipment and process system for the purpose of base production operation

Essential Functions

  • Perform batch production function

  • Set-up equipment and process system according to SOPs

  • Stage ingredients according to batch sheet

  • Mix and blend ingredients as per batch sheet

  • Operate a variety of processing equipment to specific product standards for quality and efficiency

  • Process Meat and Poultry products into various values added items following specific procedures, processes while following the HACCP Program

  • Record Data on standardized forms

  • Correctly label, weigh and mark product cases

  • Monitor and correct process parameters as needed

  • Complete Quality Assurance samples as needed

  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, organized condition

  • Perform clean up and sanitation duties as required.

  • Ensure food safety and quality protocols are followed.

  • Ensure all Safety and GMP regulations are followed at all times.

  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, safety harnesses, gloves and aprons.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in set-up of equipment for Research and Development experiments.

  • Assist in warehouse duties such as loading and unloading trucks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Process Technicians.

Supervisory responsibilities: This position is not supervisory in nature

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to operate with moderate supervision, be detail oriented, and exercise independent judgment

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem analysis skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language

  • Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

  • Critical decision-making skills, creativity

  • Basic technology programming

  • Ability to push up to 300 pounds and pull up to 500 pounds with mechanical assistance, and lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds frequently. For items over 50 pounds or awkward items, two or more employees will lift and/or carry using the buddy system.

Minimum qualifications:

High school degree or equivalent required. Six months plus food processing and/or production experience preferred. Must have ability to become certified forklift operator.

Working conditions:

  • Extensive close work with heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying in a non-climate controlled environment. Subject to continuous walking, standing, repetitive motions including frequent stooping, finger work, grasping, reaching, bending and climbing of stairs and ladders.

  • Use of and exposure to hazardous materials, high voltage, hot pipes, heat, humidity, and strong odors.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and performing above ground platform work.

  • The noise level is typically moderate to loud.

  • Mandatory overtime may be required.

Ensure and upholds quality standards by performing periodic package and case integrity tests. Responsible for proper set-up and changeovers of equipment and supplies. Performs rework and sanitation duties as required. Responsible for efficient operation of automated Palletizer system. Troubleshoot problems by using computer touch screen. Use gas or electric powered forklift to move product in a safe manner to specific warehouse locations. Essential Functions * Operate downstream equipment, including conveyor line, accumulator, capper, wraparound, unit and labeler * Perform start-up and shutdown procedures as needed * Supply materials to equipment and clear jams as needed * Perform sanitation and rework duties as needed * Perform package and case integrity tests ensuring the upholding of quality standards * Maintain sanitary standards during and at completion of packaging * Load finished product in trailers * Stage product in specific warehouse locations Secondary Functions * Support other departments including material handling, sanitation duties, reprocessing, etc. as needed * Other duties as assigned.
