Responsibilities

  • Capable of performing machine start-up, shut-down, color changes, and any necessary processing changes to ensure that the machines are running at the proper efficiency and that the product is in conformance.

  • Capable of performing daily mold and machine PM's per procedures.. Monitor and repair all auxiliary equipment and notify maintenance department of any issues with any machines or equipment.

  • Verify that the machine cycle, cavitation, and set-up parameters are correct.. Record performance of machines and any adjustments made.. Work with the QA department to prevent any nonconforming product.

  • Maintain machine cleanliness, and perform mold, machine, and equipment repairs as needed.

  • Perform any housekeeping duties as assigned by the Supervisor, or Acting Supervisor.

  • Assist Supervisor, or Acting Supervisor as needed.

  • Assist in the training of other personnel as needed.

  • Properly label scrap gaylords and ensure content integrity.

  • Follow all Safety, Food Safety and GMP practices.

Qualifications

The Mold Technician will lead by example and will perform supervisory tasks such as designating Packer/Handlers and other team members to proper locations.

  • Capable of reading, writing, and speaking English.

  • Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting in a fast paced environment.

  • Possess functional knowledge of injection molds, injection molding machines, injection molding processes, mold setups, and statistical process control.

  • Possess a minimum of three years of injection molding experience, including processing.

  • Possess basic hand tools and the knowledge to use them.

  • Capable of maintaining an attendance record within Company guidelines and working overtime as required.

  • Capable of training others as needed.

  • Must possess a strong commitment to the Company and to the production of quality product.

Directs Shift Maintenance, Deck Operators and Hot Ends for maximum productivity. Ensures that Plant process operates within parameters established by the Manager, Process Engineering, and that processes are optimized for best quality products and highest production efficiencies Responsibilities * Monitor work habits of the Maintenance Department and Operators in particular to ensure that they are performing in a safe manner. Communicate and model safe work habits to everyone in the plant * Direct Maintenance staff, Deck Operators, and Hot End Batch/Binder associates. Determine if machines need to be taken out of production for repairs or service * Allocate maintenance resources on shift. Determine proper priorities of work when more than one issue needs addressed at a time * Troubleshoot maintenance problems with machinery when it is beyond typical troubleshooting performed by mechanics and electricians * Requisition parts and materials necessary for the continued operation of the plant * Contact contractors for repair assistance as needed and directed * Communicate maintenance and process issues with the off-going and oncoming shifts to ensure continuity of operation. Read and record comments in logbooks (both maintenance and production) * Follow up on preventative maintenance routines assigned to mechanics and electricians * Monitor Key Process Variables on the Hot End and make any adjustment necessary * Monitor quality checks performed by QA for conformance to product quality standards, trends, etc. * Monitor finished scrap for excess waste and process problems * Assist Shift Supervisors and Superintendent in correcting process problems or optimizing process efficiency. * Help coordinate order changes * Work on special projects as assigned by Maintenance Manager/ Manager, Process Engineering * Ensure that Maintenance provides the best possible service to keep machines operating at maximum efficiencies and output * Function as the "technical leader" in the plant on particular shift * Ensure that all machines are being properly set up to run the most efficient, productive process Qualifications Education and Experience: * Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Technology and five (5) years of experience in an Industrial Manufacturing environment, coupled with five (5) years of maintenance experience troubleshooting pneumatics, hydraulics and electro-mechanical systems * OR- * Minimum ten (10) years of experience in an Industrial Manufacturing environment, and ten (10) years of maintenance experience troubleshooting pneumatics, hydraulics and electro-mechanical systems Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Knowledge of PLC Programming * Knowledge of AC/DC drives * Knowledge of machinery and its design/use * Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations and standards * Knowledge of standard maintenance processes/procedures in a similar environment * Knowledge of process improvement methodologies/practices * Ability to direct maintenance-needed repairs * Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment * Ability to make quick, thorough decisions that will positively impact the plant * Ability to work in a safety-conscious manner * Ability to work well in a team environment * Effective public speaking and presentation skills * Organizational skills * Time management skills * Troubleshooting skills * Active listening skills Computer skills in a MS Windows Environment; proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel Knauf Insulation Gmbh Lanett AL
