Qualus Power Services provides electric power engineering and field services through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, CE Power Engineered Services and Power Grid Engineering. The business operates from over 20 field and engineering locations and provides services nationwide.

Our Quality Engineer will be actively engaged in company-wide efforts driving the Quality culture of PGE and CEP to strategically align with on-going business imperatives. The preferred location of this position will be out of one of our office locations but will consider remote candidates based on overall qualifications and experience.

The Quality Engineer will be facilitating continuous improvement efforts and partnering with leadership to advocate for data-driven decisions. Their primary support functions include, but are not limited to: process development and improvement initiatives; incident management; project/job independent assessments; and metrics design/analysis/reporting. They also must be able to work independently in primary focus areas, as assigned by the Director of Quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with organization stakeholders to develop and/or improve PGE Orange Book and CEP Operations Manual processes leading to a positive and measurable impact on the overall performance of the company (PGE/CEP/CEPS).

  • Lead Incident Analysis Teams in accordance with established procedures aligned with principles of Advanced Error Reduction in Organizations (AERO).

  • Conduct trending and systemic analysis of Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Reportable Incidents using MS software products and other business intelligence tools. Present results to leadership.

  • Participate in the development of Quality processes and procedures and support the continuous improvements efforts related to these documents.

  • Establish effective working relationships with other PGE/CEP/CEPS leaders to accomplish Quality objectives and build value for PGE/CEP/CEPS, its valued client base, and owners.

  • Oversee the routine management and improvements of the Qualus incident tracking tool, iTrak.

  • Interface with clients (internal/external), as required, to ensure quality expectations are achieved.

  • Support operational efforts to qualify subcontractors in accordance with documented standards.

  • Participate in contractual reviews to assess Quality requirements, identify risks, and provide specific recommendations on mitigation strategies.

  • Participate in L10 weekly meetings and take ownership of Rocks and Actions, as assigned, with an objective to complete on-time; be prepared to discuss and contribute to solutions for identified issues in the L10 meetings. Understand and implement principles of Traction.

  • Provide Green/Black Belt facilitation support for company-wide improvement initiatives.

  • Coach, mentor, and provide daily direction, as assigned by Director of Quality, for junior-level Quality Engineers (Intern, I and II).

  • Understand IEEE, NETA, ISO, and other applicable quality standards and regulations.

  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Science (BS) degree in Engineering Science or other 4-year degree in related technical discipline

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines: quality engineering, systems engineering, process improvement and project management

  • Knowledge of IEEE standards

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Microsoft Windows; ability to use Business Intelligence (BI) tools

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated competency of quality principles, process improvement functions and tools, organizational effectiveness, and statistical analyses

  • Proven skills in communicating effectively, facilitating group processes; and technical writing

  • Demonstrated capabilities working in a transactional process environment; and ability to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with client and vendor organizations

  • ASQ Quality Improvement Associate, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or higher quality professional certification

  • Knowledge of NETA Standards

  • Experience with Tableau, Epicor and/or Deltek, preferred

  • Team leadership abilities

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
