As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers and technicians, you will perform general duties involved in the chemical processing of aerospace hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of rocket engine component manufacturing. A candidate in this role will perform daily tasks including:
Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans for chemical milling of metallic forms.
Design and implement processes to align with industry standard test methods for chemical milling and etching of alloyed metals.
Collaborate closely with internal customers (M&P engineers, technicians, manufacturing engineers, management and design/analysis engineers) to define requirements and align tools to meet company objectives.
Transition chemical milling from development stages through manufacturing readiness and provide inputs to facility and capital equipment planning.
Conduct Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
Evaluate Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements associated with the chemical milling process and conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) as required.
Follow safety laws and wear protective eyewear, steel toe boots, and other applicable personal protective equipment.
Develop and improve tooling concepts and equipment for chemical milling of hardware.
Use titration and other direct measurement methods to analyze and correct chemical systems.
Our team is a direct supplier to all of Blue Origin's Business Units, and executes for New Shepard, New Glenn, Blue Moon, and the Blue Engines programs. The Kent, WA based process development engineer provides a crucial, coordinated service that will supply all 4 of the Blue Origin operational sites.

Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.
5+ years of process or manufacturing engineering experience working on chemical processing.
Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs
Experience working on fluid systems applied chemistry fundamentals.
Strong attention to detail, desire to tackle problems, and drive to resolve technical issues.
Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills and ability to work with software systems, databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Proven experience and successful track record developing/starting new processes.
Experience crafting, developing and maturing processes to production readiness level.
Experience generating technical specifications to govern manufacturing processes
Experience with chemical etching, chemical machining or photochemical machining practices and technologies.
Experience working with nickel based superalloys.
Experience developing novel chemical solutions for manufacturing applications.
