Job Description: Summary

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all equipment plant wide, as well as for performing maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned or directed by supervisory personnel.

Job Description


  • Must comply with all Company policies and procedures and all safety practices

  • Ensure efficient operation of all equipment process areas through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauling and equipment repair in order to achieve operational goals

  • Assist with line calls, complete work orders as assigned, and inform Maintenance Team Leader or Maintenance Hourly Lead of additional work needed through use of the facility maintenance program system

  • Constant awareness of food safety and continual evaluation of potential risks

  • Ensure effective communication with team members and other support personnel consistent with operational goals

  • Maintain clean and functional work areas and ensure all tools and equipment are returned to their assigned locations

  • Professional conduct and appearance required in accordance with job function and Company standards is required, as is confidentiality regarding sensitive issues

  • Ensure that all work-related activities within the facility are accomplished in a manner that promotes safety to employees and that minimizes potential impact to the community environment in which we live

  • Must be able to work within a team, as well as independently with little to no supervision

  • Ensures all maintenance documents are completed in an accurate and timely manner

  • Participation on the Confined Space and Ammonia response rescue team after proper training and qualification

  • Daily Risk Assessments with maintenance team to ensure risks are recognized and proper course of action is taken to eliminate risks

  • Continuous involvement in ALL safety programs


The following work characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job:

  • Work in all areas of the plant, both inside and outside during any, and all, weather conditions

  • Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and automated equipment

  • May work on wet, icy, greasy floors

  • Occasionally exposed to humid conditions as well as hot and cold environments

  • Regularly work in a work environment in which the noise level is usually high

Job Qualifications


  • Must be able to effectively and accurately read, process and complete work orders

  • Must be able to gather information from operators and manuals and communicate well with all personnel in all departments

  • Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, fractions and multiplication) to perform measurements, fabrication, timing, conveyor belt speeds and gear ratios on equipment

  • Must be able to use written logbooks, plant computer systems, maintenance work orders and supply system

  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills and knowledge of basic Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Must be able to work under extreme conditions such as hot and cold air, wet environments, hot and cold water, slick floors, and outdoors

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, work on catwalks, work in confined areas, maneuver in close quarters and heights

  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, personal lifts and pickup trucks, requiring a valid Washington State driver's license and all certifications as necessary (training and qualification on forklifts and personal lifts provided internally)

  • Must be able to use personal protective equipment, such as hairnets, safety glasses, hearing protection, bump caps, safety harnesses, and abide by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Description Ensures that the operation of the Boiler and Refrigeration system is conducted efficiently and safely in cooperation with the Maintenance Team Leader, Process Team Leader and Packaging Team Leader to achieve operational goals. Ensures the efficient operation of all equipment in the Boiler and Refrigeration area by using preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauling and repairing equipment to achieve operational goals. Ensures the accuracy of data reporting systems such as refrigeration logs, boiler logs, SAP system (work order system) and cold storage warehouse recorders. Conducts audits on the fire sprinkler systems as required. Respond to any ammonia incidents in appropriate PPE to evaluate and take corrective actions including level B response. Ensures that work orders are completed as assigned & notifications are entered in system correctly. Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition. Performs assigned responsibilities during plant evacuation or other emergency situations, which includes the fire sprinkler system. Ensures that the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style consistent with operational goals. Performs other functions as directed. Job Qualifications Maintain a good attendance record. Communicate well in the English language in both written and oral form. Two years of education in the field of Boiler and Refrigeration. Experience in other food manufacturing positions may be substituted for education. Experience in food manufacturing refrigeration and/or boiler systems may be substituted for education. Prefer Refrigeration Engineering Technician Association (RETA) certification. Be able to read and interpret written instructions, manufacturers' manuals, P&ID's, MSDS, and engineering drawings. Be able to climb stairs and ladders as well as work on elevated platforms. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Work independently with minimal supervision. Work safely and be able to use personal protective equipment, such as respirators, SCBA, and safety harness. Must be able to pass respirator fit test.
