Where the Chemistry Happens Process Laboratory Technician (1804801) Shakopee, MN This position will contribute to the development of new products and processes, and provide technical support to the existing products and processes.
Increase knowledge and understanding of production processes by being instrumental in running process equipment in the Process Development Lab. Perform test methods and procedures with little to no supervision. Prepare formulations, run lab and process development experiments in glassware, 5-50 gallon batch mixer, and continuous flow processes in the synthesis and process development labs.
Perform basic chemical, physical and performance tests in a single technology area with no guidance. All other testing and technology areas with limited guidance. Including, but not limited to:
Test new processes Test new and existing product formulas Prepare samples Produce pilot batches in the laboratory Communicate technical information, within and outside of R&D, through reports and summaries. Perform technology demonstrations and/or field evaluations with limited guidance. Keep accurate and precise records of data and observations.
Keep work areas and equipment clean, organized and maintained. Wear necessary safety equipment and follow company established Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures. Safety first mentality.
Maintain good attendance record and report to assigned job station in a timely manner. Follow all appropriate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies. Wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment and ensures that prescribed safeguards are properly used.
Notifies his/her supervisor before undertaking a work activity in which he/she is not adequately trained. Immediately reports unsafe acts or conditions to his/her supervisor and takes immediate interim steps to protect himself/herself and others from serious risk. Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of BASFs Vision and Guiding Principles.
Must report all unsafe conditions and accidents immediately to appropriate manager. Responsible for the safety of themselves and others. Must understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities.
Process safety roles and responsibilities across the organization are clearly- defined and include an expectation to raise, and authority to respond to process safety concerns. Senior leaders are held accountable for process safety performance. Employees understand the importance of process safety as it applies to their jobs and are responsible for following and contributing to the work processes to achieve improvement in company process safety performance.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You Basic qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. 2 years of experience working in a laboratory or pilot plant or manufacturing environment. 2 years of experience using a computer to generate reports.
