Job responsibilities and duties:

1.Continuously maintain and improve lines efficiencies.

  • Verify line improvements are being utilized correctly.

  • Ensure implemented processes are still efficient.

  • Request staff as needed to analyze line efficiencies.

  • Update procedures if needed.

  • Assist with production layouts for new lines.

2.Engineer, design, and modify equipment to improve performance.

  • Ensure equipment is updated on a regular basis.

  • Work with vendors/contractors/employees to ensure timelines are maintained throughout installation process.

  • Execute improvement plan for equipment after approval.

  • Weld/machine components as needed.

3.Serve on the Equipment Strategy Steering team.

  • Evaluate any new equipment being considered based on technical expertise.

  • Provide design concepts for integrating equipment into existing cells.

  • Determine processes required to manufacture new products.

  • Participate with manufacturing engineers on equipment selection.

4.Maintain safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of equipment and maintenance areas.

  • Must administer lock-out tag-out (LOTO) and follow GMP rules.

  • Must keep work areas clean and well organized.

  • This position requires the ability to identify and correct safety issues for the benefit of all employees.

5.Understand and maintain a culture of "lean action" within the department so that we live "lean" better than any organization.

  • Implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste throughout the department.

  • Apply and utilize "lean tools" to permanently implement improvements.

  • Institutionalize 5-S in all aspects of the department. (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)

6.Other work as assigned.

Positions in this function are responsible for end-to-end business process activities - creating, controlling and improving business processes. Leads process design and project implementation teams in process improvement activities. Diagnose process improvement opportunities and develop solutions using principles of process excellence and related tools. This position is also responsible for quality reporting, analysis and audits and for developing plans and programs to support continuous quality improvement using applicable tools. May assist in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of Total Quality Management (TQM) programs. May direct design, facilitation, training and evaluation of TQM incentive programs and may oversee quality improvement projects and teams. Primary Responsibilities: * Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks * Assesses and interprets customer requirements provided by Correspondence Operations and Client Services partners * Manages tasks to dues dates and prioritizes incoming work with input from client services partners * Identifies solutions to non-standard requests * Provides work assignments to work group leads and coding team * Provides guidance to coding team for zero defect outcome on printed letters * Provides task and project status to all partners regularly * Provides explanations and information to others on difficult issues * Coaches, provides feedback ad guides coding team * Provides metrics on all aspects of coding team work including task volume, task SLA, individual and work group performance, capacity, throughput etc. Functional Competencies: Demonstrate Knowledge of Relevant Business Systems, Tools, and Processes * Demonstrate and apply understanding of UnitedHealth Group's business (e.g., specific business capabilities, functions, processes and business cycles) * Demonstrate and apply understanding of health care industry and prior authorization * Demonstrate and apply knowledge of technology and tools * Demonstrate and apply understanding of applicable regulations (e.g., HIPAA, SOX) and UHG policies / standards (e.g., RSA, security) * Demonstrate understanding of relevant organizations' operations, products and applications, strategies, processes and/or business priorities in order to build effective solutions * Develop, demonstrate and continuously improve understanding of upstream and downstream impacts to business partners operations * Demonstrate understanding of business requirements and interpretation of provided instructions * Develop and demonstrate best practices/approaches related to system functionality and letter template architecture * Develop and demonstrate best practices/approaches related to quality of final letter output Analyze Business Processes, Systems and Operations * Participate in the review of upcoming implementations and client requests * Gather and/or document information on requirements and specifications; ask questions; review client commitments including performance guarantees and regulatory constraints * Analyze business process information (e.g.,metrics; analytics) to identify key issues, trends and potential root causes that point to improvement opportunities * Work with relevant stakeholders to establish appropriate criteria and goals (e.g., QA; efficiency; capacity) in order to direct investigation into problems and potential solutions * Ensure obtained data and information are accurate and relevant to meet business partners needs * Identify risks and opportunities associated with current processes Propose Business Process Solutions * Estimate and/or quantify potential benefits, costs, and resource requirements associated with business process solutions * Summarize and communicate proposed solutions with the appropriate audiences in a manner tailored to their understanding, level, or experience * Adapt proposed solution to new and/or unanticipated requirements and/or information * Communicate potential impacts and risks associated with implementing proposed solutions to business partners and relevant stakeholders * Collaborate with stakeholders to gain support and buy-in for proposed business process solutions * Obtain agreements, approvals, and sign-offs in order to facilitate solution implementation Facilitate / Oversee / Monitor Implementation of Business Process Solutions * Provide operational instruction and guidance to business partners impacted by business process solutions * Develop and/or provide education to business partners in order to facilitate effective solution implementation * Develop project to support solution implementation using relevant tools and databases (e.g., MS Project; SharePoint; Excel) * Obtain needed resources to implement business solutions * Provide input into and/or develop relevant policies, procedures, and/or work tools to support new or updated business processes * Report to relevant stakeholders on benefits, challenges, and progress of solution implementation (e.g., risks and opportunities) You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
