Job Summary: Provides consulting to enhance organizational effectiveness through process consultation, action learning, coaching, project management, succession planning, change management, leadership development, problem solving, and education. Uses Lean and/or Six Sigma processes to support multidisciplinary process improvement initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness. The Process Improvement Coordinator is responsible for leading, deploying and implementing Lean principles within Central Maine Healthcare. The coordinator is also responsible for working with and coaching CMHC staff in developing recommendations to produce operational improvements and increase cost effectiveness. This individual must have passion, tenacity and possess a sense of urgency tempered by patience.

Acts as coordinator of process improvement efforts to ensure alignment of work and progress toward desired outcomes. Works with CMHC leaders to create an exemplary organization committed to providing exceptional healthcare services in a safe and trustful environment, through the expertise, commitment, and compassion of our family of caregivers.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, business or related field desired

  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Lean practitioner in hospital settings.

  • Green Belt certification in Lean and/or Lean Sigma.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.


  • Solid experience and skill using Lean philosophies, tools, and techniques.

  • Mastery of Lean and/or Lean Sigma process improvement tools to the Green Belt level desired.

  • Demonstrated use of strategic thinking and influence to facilitate organization change.

Demonstrated ability to foster alignment between business objectives, talent development, and organization activities.

Ability to develop and translate strategies and plans of action sense of urgency.

  • Strong change leadership skills, customer focus, global, and strategic thinking.

  • Demonstrated creative and innovative thinking. Strong desire to improve service, relationships, processes and systems.

  • Flexible and adaptable to demanding and fast paced work environment.

  • Self directed, process oriented, strong business acumen, attention to detail, ability to drive consensus in decision making and problem solving.

Experience working with senior management on a broad range of organization issues.

Ability to coach adults to change behavior and improve performance.

  • Mastery of group process facilitation skills.

  • Knowledgeable about adult learning and organization development theory.

  • Basic skill in MS Office software.

  • Skill using Visio and project management software is desired.

VIEW JOBS 2/14/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-14T00:00 Job Details BLS certification required Licensure Required RN licensure 3-5 years experience is required Position Description/Summary: The Central Maine Healthcare Stroke Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of Central Maine Healthcare accredited stroke centers. The coordinator is the lead facilitator for stroke services for the market hospitals, physicians, external agencies, facilities, nursing staff, and allied health professionals. The stroke coordinator ensures quality care for the stroke patient throughout the continuum. The coordinator works with the stroke medical director in collaboration with the stroke leadership teams and members to assure standardization of excellence and care for the stroke patient. This care encompasses clinical treatment, decisions and diagnosis for in-patients and the transfer of patients to appropriate sites of care throughout the system. In addition the coordinator is responsible for achieving and maintaining The Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center Certification as well as relevant quality measures and regulatory compliance. Essential Duties: 1. Develop and maintain a coordinated stroke center at Central Maine Healthcare, obtain The Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center Certification, and CAH facilities to become The Joint Commission Acute Stroke Ready. 2. Develops reviews and updates standards of care, policies, clinical pathways, protocols, and order sets to comply with stroke program best practices 3. Serves as coordinator for The Joint Commission primary Stroke Center Certification 4. Collaborates with the quality department for data abstraction/entry. Core measure compliance goal of 100%. 5. Responsible for coordinating stroke education to nurses, physicians, all in-hospital employees (dietary, coffee shop, security, gift shop etc.), patients, families, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), communities, referring hospitals 6. Develops performance improvement plans for stroke program that achieves and maintains positive patient outcomes 7. Promotes a positive image of the stroke center and hospital to patients, physicians, EMS, in-hospital staff, and the community 8. Acts as an expert resource in stroke processes and procedures 9. Monitors and adheres to following stroke rounding procedures on multiple floors 10. Collaborates with local physicians in the Central Maine market - ED, hospital medicine, neurologists, neuro-interventionists, radiologists, outpatient neurologists, and referring physicians 11. Provide stroke leadership to Central Maine Healthcare facilities and referring hospitals 12. Market the Central Maine Healthcare stroke program to local resources, community, EMS, referring hospitals, affiliated hospitals etc. 13. Participates in appropriate hospital committees. 14. Participation in professional organization membership(s). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Language Ability: Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and coworkers as necessary. Understand how to follow safety guidelines, and understand the associate handbook and applicable hospital policies. Reasoning Ability: Critical thinking and ability to analyze large amounts of data.
