Process Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Process Engineer to join a global pharmaceutical organization with a state of the art facility in the Greater Raleigh, NC area. The Process Engineer will support new projects, equipment, and utilities throughout an API facility. This department is over raw materials, chemicals, and solvents, and their associated systems. The ideal candidate will have mechanical troubleshooting abilities in a production environment.

Responsibilities of the Process Engineer:

• Evaluate process and instrumentation diagrams to diagnose systems in the facility (pumps, valves, tanks, distillation columns)

• Own design and formulation changes/requests, and address non-conformities and deviations

• Provide technical support and initiate process improvement measures on existing equipment throughout the facility

• Work with validation protocols on equipment, including utilities

• Maintain safety while handling raw materials and chemicals such as: Sodium hydroxide, ethyl acetate, nitric acid, citric acid, ethanol, ammonia, acetic acids.

• Provide routine support and troubleshoot mechanical issues

Qualifications of the Process Engineer:

• B.S./M.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study

• 2-5 years of experience in an engineering production environment or related field

• Experience in troubleshooting mechanical issues in equipment such as pumps, valves, tanks, distillation columns, etc.

• General utilities experience

• Experience with the use and safety of Ethanol

Compensation of the Process Engineer:

• $45-65/hr. depending on relevant industry experience

• Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, etc.
