This role will have primary accountability for providing both technical and project leadership, mainly in the areas related to production of existing and new products, quality, health and safety. The Process Engineer provides recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequences that will minimize risk, cost, and waste; increase yields and productivity; and improve the quality and consistency of final product. Deliver productivity savings and improve line/area reliability
Apply process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc) and statistical tools to identify and implement solutions
Research the best available techniques to incorporate into the process to improve manpower requirements as well as efficiency, methods, equipment and tools to optimize the manufacturability of products
Work with finance to prepare standard costs and to interpret financial results and variances
Lead cross-functional teams through new product introduction activities for set up and change of manufacturing processes as well as systems (e.g. ERP master data)
Perform root cause analysis when issues arise and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Provide support to the Management team through collaborative processes of developing strategic and tactical plans
Provide support for employee suggestion system
Assist with special engineering projects and other project-related responsibilities as directed
Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
Strictly adhere to and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training session
Other duties as assigned
Post-secondary accreditation in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering
Experience with change management principles and demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process
Experience in Lean Manufacturing Tools (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, Visual management, etc.); Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is strongly preferred
Excellent computer skills (Advanced MS Office is a requirement) and previous experience with ERP systems
Excellent operational knowledge of process equipment and controls
Knowledge of GMP standards and experience working in a regulated environment is an asset
Knowledge of and experience in project management tools and techniques
