BASIC PURPOSE OF THE PROCESS ENGINEER (METALLURGIST) POSITION:

• Responsible for aspects of the Process Engineering function under guidance of the Quality Manager including Metallurgy, process technology development and application.

• Responsible for the coordination of trials and tests and model line concept application in accordance with company development plans and statistical process control procedures to achieve continuous improvement in quality and productivity.

• Works as a hands on Process Engineer wile performing this function.

• Reports to the Quality Manager and is located at the Bekaert plant in Orrville, OH.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

• Obtains and analyzes work center trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Collaborates with the production management to analyze defects as it pertains to rod suppliers, in-process material and customer concerns.

• May be responsible for communication with Bekaert's suppliers and resolving issues.

• Coordinates process changes with production, as necessary, in order to ensure efficient introduction and implementation of new processes.

• Fosters employee involvement by encouraging and participating in Cross Functional and Bekaert Teams and practices to ensure involvement of all employees in continuous quality improvement.

• Maintains open lines of communications with counterparts in other Bekaert plants (worldwide), corporate Research and Development and the Bekaert Technical Center to ensure effective exchange of new technology.

• Manages the introduction and development of new processes and products, including customer samples, in support of expanding and/or improving production operations.

• Coordinates all technical activities within the Orrville facility, while guiding and coaching process technicians and engineers within the plant.

• Develops in cooperation with the Orrville Plant Manager, Quality Manager and Production Managers, yearly X+1 and X+3 Goals and strategic directions for the Technical group and implements within areas of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

• Bachelor's degree in Material Science, or related Engineering field plus minimum of 2 years' experience in Process Engineering in steel required.

• Such experience typified through knowledge of the wire drawing industry, steel cord process, statistical analysis and design of experiments.

• A working knowledge the operations of and understanding the needs of customers is also required.

• Must have experience working with SAP, Microsoft Office, and other software programs.
