Position Summary:
This position will provide engineering support for plants and corporate programs encompassing productivity improvements, standardization of processes and manufacturing methods, business expansion of new product lines, installation and startup of new equipment, and introduction of new products.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the reliability process in a manner that will have a direct impact on equipment uptime, efficiency, cost management, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, innovation, and ultimately profitability

  • Leverage network and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) subject matter experts to develop reliability efforts through enhanced communication and best practice sharing

  • Through analytical tools, work with Operations to identify equipment end of life (EOL) opportunities, required equipment and process upgrades and develop & manage long-term capital investment plans

  • Analyze equipment downtime data and develop & manage a process that will drive OEM uptime and lower costs

  • Identify, monitor and maintain key performance indicators (KPI's), and drive data access to the operator/craftsman level.

  • Assist in tracking metrics and generating the monthly maintenance report for area of responsibility.

  • Assist maintenance personnel by troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems as necessary.

  • Own and regularly respond with subject matter expertise to maintenance/equipment related questions, own access to and distribution of OEM technical bulletin updates, and facilitate strong communication with OEM vendors

  • Develop maintenance benchmarking data / KPI's in order to drive improvements amongst like sites and other similar corporate entities

  • Reviews major purchases and capital projects to optimize life cycle costs.

  • Provides input into capital budget to drive improved reliability.

  • Give recommendations for spare parts of equipment.

  • Working closely with corporate reliability leader to develop site maintenance excellence and reliability plan.

  • Support maintenance personnel during equipment overhauls and unscheduled outages.

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis of systems and subsystems within a manufacturing environment.

  • Develop effective PM's for equipment to support business unit metrics. Interact with other Operating facilities to ensure consistent practices are maintained.

  • Adhere to and uphold all Plant Safety standards to ensure safe working environment for all team members.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline; preferably Mechanical or IE.

  • 3-5 years of engineering experience required.

  • Six Sigma/Lean experience required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent communications skills must be able to effectively communicate and work with multiple departments and levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge of proper equipment design and proper operation.

  • Working knowledge of Stamping, Welding, Forming, Automation, and Coating.

  • Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing.

  • Strong Understanding and ability to perform SPC, FMEA, CA (Criticality Analysis), Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone, or in a team environment with limited supervision.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Supports continual optimization projects and optimization efforts of manufacturing processes to maintain high quality and efficient production. Provides a deep understanding of the technical theory behind the process. Encompasses an ability to utilize various analytical tools and reports to uncover problematic root causes. Has the personality of a "change agent" with the ability to effectively persuade resistances to change. Works cross-functionally with other members of the engineering team and manufacturing departments to aid in the manufacturing process. The Process Improvement Engineer tasks will include: * Considering safety as a top priority with participation in preventative safety actions including system entries, audits and risk assessments. * Being a technical point of contact with an expert knowledge of rotary kiln, crusher, dryer, pelletizing, and screening operation. Also, understand the entire product portfolio of minerals products. * Understanding and enforcing all minerals production quality guidelines and procedures. * Performing routine process audits to ensure process equipment is accurately operating at peak production efficiency and within environmental emissions limits. * Running routine process reports to uncover potential problematic root causes influencing production efficiency and/or quality. Perform experimental trials for new improvement ideas following ISO 9001 standards. * Auditing raw material and final product inventories with accountability to investigate and uncover root causes behind variances of the ERP/BOM versus actual.
