GENERAL FUNCTION The Process Engineer develops, analyzes, improves, and implements Process Specifications, Control Plans, consumable and equipment specifications, and process yield capabilities throughout the Luxottica manufacturing network.
Designs, characterizes, documents, and implements manufacturing process improvement initiatives including: process experimentation, design, optimization, control, specification, and sustainment to achieve continuous improvement to yields and cost initiatives.
Leads lean manufacturing initiatives to improve safety, reduce cycle times, improve productivity, improve process reliability, and improve customer satisfaction with respect to on-time delivery and quality.
Performs process capability analysis and implements process control procedures.
Creates appropriate process documentation and training tools.
Monitors and controls production processes to ensure compliance to specified requirements..
Provides technical support for the qualification and validation of new product introductions to ensure all aspects of performance, manufacturability and quality are achieved.
Develops and manages timelines, assesses technical feasibility of project options, and executes implementation plans.
Provides technical support for the qualification and validation of new equipment and processes; and identifies and implements new technologies to continuously improve processes.
Leads or supports root cause analysis investigations and recommends corrective actions and preventative actions.
Provides technical input to support process changes.
Supports training of operations personnel.
Conducts investigations and tests pertaining to the development of new manufacturing methods, materials or processes, and investigates possible applications of results.
BS Engineering
3+ years of engineering experience
Interpersonal skills
Knowledge of manufacturing engineering
Problem solving skills
MS Excel
Ability to travel an average of 15% to 25% - project requirements may dictate higher intervals
BS Engineering
5+ years of engineering experience
Statistical Analysis (MiniTAB, Lean Manufacturing, six sigma, project management)

Essential Function/Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. * Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. * Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. * Works with the manufacturing staff, as required, developing process engineering documentation, systems and auditing procedures. Areas of expertise include: Applicable materials & equipment knowledge. * Performs manufacturing performance analysis to reduce processing costs through creative engineering and proactive procedures. * Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. * Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. * Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests. * Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians. * Design and develop new products and product mock-ups alongside the creative team * Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems * Develop standardized design criteria across all product lines * Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency. * Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams. Product Safety and Quality * Follows Product Safety and Quality standards * Follows FDA GMPs in regards to food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee Safety * Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE) * Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning; follows FDA product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all SQF requirements * Ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained * Ensures all safety procedures are strictly adhered to including that "Lock out and tag out" is strictly enforced and disciplined. Travel * Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Education and/or Experience * Bachelors degree in Engineering required, in addition to four to six years related experience and/or training. Skilled in 3D modeling software; Solidworks a plus. Knowledge in Lean/6-sigma problem solving.
