Georgia-Pacific Consumer Manufacturing Group is seeking qualified professionals to be considered for our Pulp Paper Process Engineer role supporting the Consumer Products Group Operations located in Muskogee, OK. The Muskogee facility uses integrated technology to manufacture tissue, paper towel and napkin products in a progressive production environment.

The Pulp Paper Process Engineer at Georgia Pacific is a vital role responsible for overseeing the maintenance and management of the company's facilities and grounds. This role will have responsibility for optimizing the pulp and paper manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do

  • Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture

  • Analyze and evaluate current pulp and paper manufacturing processes

  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality

  • Monitor process performance and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement

  • Lead and manage projects related to process optimization, equipment upgrades, and new technology implementation

  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel, to ensure successful project execution

  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve process issues

  • Conduct root cause analysis of process problems and implement corrective actions

  • Ensure that all process improvements and operations comply with safety and environmental regulations

  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the team.

  • Collect and analyze process data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders

  • Train and mentor operators and junior engineers on best practices, process optimization techniques, and new technologies

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in a pulp and paper manufacturing or a related industry environment

  • Understanding of pulp and paper processes, equipment, and technologies

  • Ability to analyze complex data and troubleshoot process issues

  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma and/or Continuous Improvement

  • Proficiency using engineering software and tools, such as CAD

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Engineering, Paper Science, or a related field

  • Experience with process control systems and automation

  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies

  • Ability to manage projects, including planning, execution and monitoring progress
