Job Location: Jackson, TN manufacturing facility


  • Process Optimization Keeping the plant production processes (crackers and chips) efficient is your main objective, working through a lens of improving process flow, reduced inventory costs, area loss reduction, and implementing efficiency-promoting practices. Plan on partnering with other key functions on executing projects including R&D, the Manufacturing Reliability team, the Continuous Improvement team, and autonomous maintenance team.

  • Leadership by Example & Coaching Your leadership and coaching skills will be put to good use as you develop high performing teams through Kellogg Work Systems (KWS) tools that identify and analyzes losses to develop solutions and control plans.

  • KPI's and Work Standards As a goal oriented person, KPI's are the peanut butter to your jelly, making it easy to develop, implement and track progress throughout the plant. Work like an owner by developing and leading Plant Manufacturing Standards for the production lines.

  • Driving Best Practices You will learn best practices along the way, so be sure to share your key learnings as they come. We need your expert communication skills to ensure we replicate operation excellence across all shifts and lines.

  • Technical Support We know you are technically sound, don't be afraid to provide your professional support on production processes, equipment requirements for raw materials and finished goods, standards and specifications.

PURPOSE: The Corporate Engineering Services Tooling and Processing Engineering team is a small core group of professionals who support all tooling related functions including assisting with the implementation of new corporate tooling projects. As a member of the team, the Tooling Engineer will report to the Bottle Tooling Manager and work closely with product development, commercial and operational teams as well as processing counterparts within the TPE group. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide input to Product Development regarding mold or tooling design and sign-off on final design * Work with all plants on tooling issues * Work with the plants on installation and start-up of all new molds or tooling * Optimize the performance of all molds or tooling within area of discipline * Work with plant operations to provide input on continuous improvement of the tooling department * Track mold or tooling prices for all projects to assure we are getting the best value * Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements * Use caution and support facility systems to assure safety event free facilities * Respond to any emergency or potential emergency following established procedures * Observe, respond and report any instance of product, service, or quality systems non-conformity * Security diligence: maintain control of key cards, prevent unauthorized entry to facilities by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry equipment * Pause activity and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices * Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product, service or quality systems * Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels. * Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, facilities or systems and verify the implementation of solutions * Respond to non-established procedures if they should arise QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience * Minimum of 5 years field experience in Engineering * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Visual acuity of at least 20/50 for distance (corrected or uncorrected) and a minimal near vision ability to read 10 – 12 point font at a distance of 12 – 18 inches * Speak, write, and read effectively in English * Computer literate * Must be able to hear and recognize various sounds such as emergency machine shutdown alarms * Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously * Excellent problem solving skills * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal positively with others in a team environment Berry Plastics Jackson TN
