Accountabilities &

  • Adheres to Integer's Values and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to implement creative solutions.

  • Monitors performance of equipment, machines and tools and correct equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues.

  • Interfaces with Quality and R&D to integrate new products or processes.

  • Responsible for identifying and correcting manufacturing process nonconformance's identified during prototype builds.

  • Interacts with all levels of the organizations to ensure that all necessary procedures and processes are in place.

  • Plans, organizes, and manages related projects and staff as appropriate.

  • Functions as a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area of assignments.

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or total project of moderate scope.

  • Independently performs assignments, receiving instruction only regarding general expected results.

  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Investigates, develops and implements new process technologies of moderate scope.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience

JOB DESCRIPTION: Position Summary: We are recruiting for a Staff Process Development Engineer to join our team in the Plymouth, MN location. In this role, you will have functional responsibility for leading all technical activities in identifying, designing, developing and implementing state of the art manufacturing processes to manufacture new products in compliance with OSHA, cGMP and other regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will work with the manufacturing team to transfer and validate the manufacturing process. Primary Responsibilities: * Provide leadership in the development of new products and design and development of state-of-the-art manufacturing processes * Develop and manage project and equipment schedules and corresponding capital and project expense budgets * Provides technical direction for new product development, ensuring design for manufacturability * Responsible for execution of design control activities, FMEAs/Hazard Analysis, failure investigations, design reviews, and training of personnel * Optimizes manufacturing processes to provide sustainable gains in cost effectiveness and product performance through capital projects, statistical analysis, designed experiments, and procedural changes * Maintains safety, product quality, and manufacturing effectiveness by examining equipment, processes, operations, product components and assembly to determine time or quality revisions and suggests/implements improvements * Evaluates suppliers, materials and components in order to determine critical quality parameters: develops and executes test methods, designs test equipment and fixtures and creates specifications and protocols * Identifies, designs and purchases process equipment for development and manufacturing including: Creates specifications for equipment; Communicates requirements to equipment designers; Evaluates vendor proposals and capabilities; and Collaborates with equipment designers and assure that the design requirements are met by executing and participating in design reviews and factory acceptance testing * New product and equipment start-up: manage execution of installation qualification, operation qualification and validation, troubleshoots initial production, ensures new processes and products meet requirements, develops maintenance plans, documents and transfers to production * Contribute to corporate intellectual property through submission of unique process invention/application disclosures * Responsible for design transfer and test development activities Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline * 8+ years' experience in new product development engineering, including working in a development environment with a disciplined development process for very quality sensitive applications, bringing a new product(s) to manufacturing, and writing product requirements and design specifications * Experience in new product development with successful design from concept to commercialization * 1+ year of experience in a leadership role/direct supervision of employees * Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization * Proven experience working in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment * Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally Preferred Qualifications: * Advanced degree in technical field * Experience in designing medical devices in an FDA regulated environment * Previous experience using Minitab JOB FAMILY: Engineering DIVISION: SH Structural Heart LOCATION: United States > Minnesota > Plymouth : 5050 Nathan Lane N ADDITIONAL LOCATIONS: United States > Minnesota> St. Paul > Woodridge : 177 East County Rd B WORK SHIFT: Standard TRAVEL: No MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE: No SIGNIFICANT WORK ACTIVITIES: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day), Keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday) Abbott is an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Women/Individuals with Disabilities/Protected Veterans.
