The Shelby location is Clearwater Paper's newest consumer products facility, boasting two paper mills located on 400 acres with over 600 talented employees. We are proud to produce a variety of high-quality premium and ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Our state-of-the-art technology includes 10 converting lines, 54 laser-guided vehicles, and 2 paper machines producing large quantities at high speed. What you will do:
Technical Assistance
Evaluates new technologies, implements process changes, and implements systems to reduce operating costs, increase production and improve quality.
Provides support data for all reports and performance updates.
Data analysis to reduce variability or improve performance
Reviews production schedules and suggests modifications for reduced downtime and/or changeovers where applicable.
Assists with designing solutions to eliminate equipment failures and process instabilities.
Writes procedures, trains operators, and monitors compliance with quality procedures.
Organizes shutdown schedules for operations where applicable
Process Improvement
Develops working knowledge of all process areas in areas including process flow, operator responsibility, major quality attributes, and areas for improvement.
Initiates, conducts, and documents results of process trials to improve productivity and/or quality.
Assists with proposals to justify capital expenditures, help manages technical aspects, and assists with coordination of start-up of capital projects.
Recommends and implements process improvements or chemical changes to improve the overall operation where applicable.
Assists with data collection for justification of capital expenditures and coordination of start-ups.
Conducts crew training in new process equipment or chemical additives
Monitors process variables and recommends changes in operation for improved performance.
Optimizes process by identifying and eliminating root causes of process variations.
Monitors performance of wearable items (clothing, coater blades, doctor blades, etc.) and recommend changes leading to cost reduction, quality enhancements, or production improvement.
Leadership
Participates in the development of less experienced engineers.
Provides crew supervision during trials or upset conditions to ensure the trial plans are properly executed
May be asked to supervise and lead interns/co-ops
Fulfil day to day duties of Asset Leader when out
What you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3 to 5 years of professional level experience in the paper industry
Intermediate knowledge of PI (Process Information System).
Previous experience using a Production Management system preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Solid planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and an intermediate level.
Proficient in Microsoft Project and CMMS systems
Industrial Environment - subject to extreme heat and cold.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn in the mill environment.
