We are currently seeking a Process Engineer with practical experience in EV batteries and passion to advance battery cell technology. This position requires strong process engineering skills in R&D and pilot Li-ion battery cell manufacturing operations & process development. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Successful candidates should demonstrate an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings. Our team is focused on development, selection and validation of cell materials, design, process, and manufacturing hardware by building prototype cells in cylindrical form factor. Your responsibility will be to lead innovative cell prototyping processes to accelerate the development of Lucid technology and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve problems.

Role:

  • Own and account for one or more cell manufacturing processes and Subject matter expert for process equipment performance and operation to ensure safety, compliance, and sustained operation.

  • Manage daily activities and provide technical guidance on prototype lines.

  • Improve process capabilities through design of experiments, critical data analysis, and in-depth understanding between cell process and performance metrics.

  • Establish and standardize baseline process conditions.

  • Develop and optimize process conditions for new recipes, designs, and materials.

  • Responsible for commissioning and qualification activities including FAT, SAT, automation checkouts, IQ, OQ, PQ, and asset/preventive maintenance/spare parts creation for new process equipment.

  • Lead and participate in equipment breakdown investigations to identify root causes. Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams on the subsequent plans, short term and long-term mitigating actions.

  • Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement to improve efficiencies and differentiation through flexible use of new technologies and best industry practices.

  • Work with external vendors to identify, customize and develop fabrication and assembly equipment and processes.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of process engineering experience with Lithium-ion cylindrical cell form factor battery manufacturing (e.g slurry mixing, coating, calendaring, and slitting, Jelly-roll winding, Cell assembly and Formation processes).

  • Six-sigma certifications such as green-belt and/or black-belt are preferred.

  • Familiarity with data collection, statical process control, process capability analysis, PFMEA and quality management

  • Familiarity with analytical software and programming languages (e.g. JMP, Minitab, MATLAB, Python, etc.).

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Li-ion battery chemistry, electrochemistry, cell design and manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent communication and planning skills in both technical and non-technical environments - experience communicating with external parties and managing vendors is preferred.

  • Experience in equipment commissioning & qualification (FAT/SAT).

Education:

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$110,600-$152,020 USD
