Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Wafer Fab Process Engineering Manager, works in the cooled detector wafer fab and owns processes and metrology equipment. Works with Quality to develop and maintain and produce regular SPC reporting. Becomes expert in processing methods and process flow. Works with technicians to provide immediate support and the first line of engineering review. Contributing member of yield and failure analysis teams. Initiates and drives continuous improvement projects. Supports ISO and product lifecycle implementation. Work environments are majority clean room, with limited office work.

Detailed Description:

  • Process and equipment owner - sustaining, excursion root cause analysis, documentation

  • Yield Improvement and Failure Analysis

  • Continuous Improvement Process capability, rework rates, cycle time, costs

  • SPC

  • Operator Training

  • 90% Class 100 Cleanroom


  • 2+ years of related experience

  • Prior experience in one or more vacuum deposition and etch, photolithography, wet etch, hybridization, automated optical inspection

  • Familiarity with a range of semiconductor wafer processing equipment and processes

  • Working knowledge of cleanroom practices

  • Familiarity with statistics/analysis software example JMP, Minitab

  • Experience with analytical problem-solving methods Kepner Tregoe, DMAIC,

  • WIP tracking system familiarity desired

  • ISO 9001 process and procedures

  • Ability to work using hands and have good manual dexterity


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related technical discipline required

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident status required

  • SPC implementation

  • Proficient computer skills Word, Excel & Outlook

  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English

  • Proficient with the use of Computers

  • Ability to use microscopes.

VIEW JOBS 3/29/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-27T00:00 Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is looking for a Sr Process Engineer II who will be involved in the packaging of IR detectors for high reliability space, military and commercial applications. You will train to become "process owner" of critical manufacturing processes in support factory of operations and will be responsible for proactively monitoring and maintaining the health of those processes and quickly responding as problems arise. The engineer will work with factory staff and support personnel to develop and implement new processes in support of emerging technologies. Rigorous engineering discipline will be required to set up, maintain current processes in support of existing contracts. The ability to troubleshoot problems, develop and test theories, generate and execute project plans is needed. A self-motivated, self-disciplined individual is the ideal candidate for this position. Ability to work with individuals and teams outside the department will be required. Additional tasks will include working in an engineering lab that produces materials in support of factory detector packaging processes. Tasks will involve working with test equipment, camera builds, cooler integration and ESS as well as following rigorous disciplined methodologies and instructions. You will be responsible for process health (yield, throughput), review and maintain statistical process control (SPC), generate work instructions and train operators as well as new process development. Candidate will be working in a cleanroom environment with ESD protocols in place. Exposure to industrial solvents and other chemicals is included. Required Skills: * +6 years of professional engineering experience. * Experience with basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts * Experience working with mechanical and electrical construction of products * Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE/ANOVA) * Experience documenting evaluation results. * Experience with commercial manufacturing processes * U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
