Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, results-driven Process Engineer who will provide technical support for an acid catalyst manufacturing facility which includes new product implementation, product optimization and continuous improvement, and capital project support. As a Process Engineer at our Avon location, you will be part of a team responsible for hands-on development of catalyst production processes, providing technical support for the facility which will involve monitoring process performance, troubleshooting and problem solving, as well as capital project support and equipment design. The successful candidate will be an active participant in cross-functional project teams, global supply initiatives, process engineering teams, and operational improvement teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting, problem solving and proactive support of process areas in the facility

  • Driving technical improvements for processes through collaboration with on-site teams to monitor and manage critical process performance in the facility, including interaction with operations, maintenance, and quality

  • Supporting new product and technology introductions to the plant, interfacing with global teams including R&D

  • Working with local and global capital teams focusing on catalyst process design

  • Monitoring and reporting on process performance, product cost, and operational logistics as well as developing technical assumptions and costs for annual budget

  • Designing and developing operations, equipment, process, and methods

  • Model appropriate behavior for; Safety Health Environment/Project Safety Management and Ethics and Respect for People Core Values

Job Qualifications

We are looking for an effective, results-driven, self-directed and motivated team player who communicates in an open, honest manner. In addition, qualified candidates should possess the following:

  • BS Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

  • Prior experience in a solid manufacturing process

  • Proven project management skills

  • Ability to lead and uphold core values (Respect for People, SHE, Ethics, Environmental Stewardship)

  • In depth knowledge of safety in engineering process design Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work virtually and connect with other engineers globally

  • Some travel may be required

  • Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving and troubleshooting skills

MECS Sulfuric Acid Catalyst Production is a reliable and economical producer of catalyst that converts SO2 to SO3 since 1915 for sulfur burning, metallurgical, spent acid, and wet sulfuric acid plants. As a world leader in sulfuric acid process technologies and catalyst production for nearly 100 years, our vast technical expertise and sulfuric acid production knowledge, coupled with our commitment to innovation, has enabled us to create a line of high-performance sulfuric acid catalysts for use in any type of converter.
