SCOPE

Our Process Engineer will drive significant improvement in overall equipment effectiveness and operational excellence. Partners closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering on introduction and integration of new products and processes. Specify, design, and execute a portfolio of projects focused on Capacity, Process and Cost Improvements requiring cross-functional partnering across multiple disciplines within the organization. Identify, analyze and solve manufacturing problems by recommending, evaluating and executing alternative cost-effective solutions that cover a variety of situations. Coordinate and lead activities of Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality departments to successfully achieve timely cost-effective goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead Engineering projects designed to reduce waste, improve process capability, process reliability, increase OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), improve quality and manage capacity as required.

  • Develop data acquisition and performance measuring techniques to gather and analyze critical data necessary to execute actions that improve product cost, quality and manufacturing reliability

  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develop recommendations and plans accordingly.

  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.

  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.

  • Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.

  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.

  • Hands-on Troubleshooting new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.

  • Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness.

  • Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.

  • Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering required; Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Electrical, Industrial preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Production manufacturing engineering with emphasis on OEE and Manufacturing process improvements, Process & Equipment Design, and Project management.

  • Experience in a food grade environment (FDA, GMP's, HACCP) with high speed packaging equipment preferred

  • Familiar with Auto-Cad/Draft site

  • Team oriented individual

  • Proficient with Reliability tools and methodologies.

  • Demonstrated Process and Packaging equipment design and operation, automation and controls (PLC, DCS, etc.) knowledge, solid analytical skills, demonstrated excellent interpersonal and Project Management Skills. Demonstrated proficiency in use of Process Excellence tools and Design for Six Sigma DFSS, (DMAIC, DOE, VSM, RCA, FMEA, etc.).

VIEW JOBS 4/9/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-07-08T00:00 Scope: The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring products produced in the plant meet the standards set by Heartland Food Products Group and regulatory authorities. The role ensures the highest level of commitment to Safe Quality Food in order to provide assurance that all products have been produced, prepared and handled according to the standards of Heartland Food Products Group, SQF and Regulatory Authorities. This position actively participates in training and continuous improvement projects. Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities: * Provide leadership in maintaining effective communication between the Quality and Production departments through collaboration with the Operations Manager. * Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. This includes the HACCP system, regulatory audits, quality systems review process (QSR), standard operating procedures (SOP's), incoming ingredient inspections, product scoring, food safety audits, handling field complaints, and standardized work instructions. * Develop and execute SQF Plans to maintain SQF Level 3 Certification at the facility and maintain all Heartland Sweeteners' requirements related to quality and food safety programs. * Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to management. * Document testing procedures, methodologies, and criteria. Assure regulatory compliance, adherence to GMPs and an effective food safety program. * Implement necessary internal quality assurance systems and infrastructure that provide a systematic review process and resources to assure all products meet regulatory and conformance requirements prior to market release. * Maintain current knowledge of trends and changes affecting food safety and make recommendations for appropriate program changes to ensure regulatory compliance. * Compile and review data for trends and deviations followed by reporting execution of corrective and preventative measures (CAPA). * Identify root cause in quality, production and other areas as needed to reduce or eliminate deviations * Collaborate with others in the company to improve the quality of the products while implementing methods for reducing the cost * Provide support for all internal and external audit activities. * Develop, revise and initiate standards and methods for inspection, sampling, testing and evaluation as part of continuous improvement initiatives. * Active member of the factory HACCP and Food Safety teams. * Develop, organize and manage applications of a comprehensive quality and food safety programs. * Create training documents and train others to ensure compliance and the production of Safe Quality Food. * Counsel employees about work-related issues and assists employees to correct job-skill deficiencies. * All other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * BS in Engineering, Food Science, or related field is preferred * 5+ years of food processing experience required; at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment under FDA and HACCP managing food processing sanitation program preferred * Comprehensive experience with SQF Code, FDA Rules and Regulations * Must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels * Analytical skills and demonstrated problem solving/corrective action/resolution skills * Must be able to work independently and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and self-initiative skills * Ability to develop and implement strategic objectives * Self-motivation and ability to work with people at all levels of the organization * Must work successfully with cross functional departments within and outside the organization and build effective relationships * Excellent organizational and project management skills a must * Microsoft Office Suite Physical Demands: * Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions * Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time * Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend * Must possess visual acuity to document company records * Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center * Lifting up to 40 pounds Heartland Food Products Group Indianapolis IN
