Are you a self-motivated, confident, and passionate Process Engineer who understands why Process Engineering is so important to the success of the company?

In this role you'll working as part of dynamic team analyzing, debugging, repairing, and updating test fixtures in support of manufacturing as key contributor to the current products portfolio.

You'll have an opportunity to provide guidance and direction to contractors and staff so as to meet project schedule and financial goals while ensuring technical success.

You should possess Minimum of 5 years Electrical experience with a concentration in process equipment design and maintenance.


Principal Activities / Duties /

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document assembly, test and repair processes and instructions from design to process

  • Review and approve Design Drawings and Documents, and Compliance Documents (including user requirements and functional specifications) for process and support equipment and systems

  • Independently plan, execute, and manage projects that span multiple disciplines and incorporate novel methods, techniques or approaches

Education and/or Experience Required:

B.S. in Engineering, Supply Chain or related discipline desired.
7-10 years experience within a manufacturing environment.

Experience in assembly and testing of high complexity low volume products

Expertise in process engineering including process and equipment design

Experience in developing procedures from the design to process project stages

Experience and understanding of the Design, Build and Validation process

General Skills:

Ability to work in a team environment and to multi-task with strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Results oriented and committed to quality and continuous improvement.

Ability to convince management on courses of actions using both written and verbal methods

SCOPE OF POSITION: Process authority supporting the ongoing technical needs of component production processes. The focus of this role is to provide continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes of precision opto-mechanical components, introduce new products into the production system, and provide ongoing technical support to manufacturing personnel to ensure process reliability. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * As a process engineers, we are the first line of defense for all technical issues that arise during production. For more complicated issues, the team is expected to collaborate with other authorities, both internal and external to Corning. * You will utilize formal tools to identify root causes of variation such as 6-Sigma and scientific methodologies. DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: * In this role, we will provide day-to-day production support to answer technical questions and resolve process upsets. * You will Identify and lead continuous process improvements to reduce cost (variation, cycle-time, complexity, and scrap reduction) * Collaborate with product development to introduce new products into the production system. * Work with the quality team to respond to customer complaints and returns. * Collaborate with the commercial team to quote new products. * Specify new manufacturing capabilities via development of new techniques, or specifying new equipment, tools, fixtures, and test equipment. * Develop process flow charts, work instructions, process sheets, checklists, forms, and other required documentation. * Training and mentoring manufacturing personnel on new processes. * Know the latest manufacturing trends and seek out the appropriate authorities when needed. * Assess existing manufacturing capability gaps and recommend future development activities. * Protect intellectual property by documenting key competitive processes. REQUIRED SKILLS: Education: * Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a technical field such as Optical, Mechanical, Material Science, or Manufacturing Engineering * 5+ years of experience IDEALLY, WE ARE SEEKING SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS (OR A COMBINATION): * Plating, Metallurgy, and Material Science * Diamond Turning * Generating, centering & polishing of optical elements * Knowledge of interferometric component metrology * Characterization of surface roughness and profilometry * Process capability measurement and analysis (Cpk) * Aptitude to learn technologies that are unfamiliar * Critical thinking to rapidly solve problems that arise. * Ability to function on a process engineering team of multi-disciplinary engineers * Strong communication skills - written, verbal, and comfortable with giving presentations. * Confidence in interacting with all levels of the organization (production technicians to senior leadership). TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: * We anticipate less than 10% travel with this role. Typical travel includes training, networking opportunities, customer visits, and benchmarking activities as required. HOURS OF WORK: * Typical first shift production hours, M-F, 8am-5pm. Extra and off hours may be required during times of heightened project activity in order to meet the goals of the project.
