The Role

The Honest Company is expanding our Research and Development team! We're looking for a Process Development Engineer to support our personal care product development. As a Process Development Engineer, you will be responsible for all scale up and manufacturing feasibility work for R&D in support of delivering and maintaining a robust pipeline of new items, product improvements, sustainable enhancements, process development designs, technology initiatives, and margin enhancements for The Honest Company Business.

You will be responsible for identifying and/or developing the most feasible method for producing new products in our manufacturing facilities and ensuring that our products can be successfully and consistently produced. You will help create a compelling workplace based on technical acumen, collaboration, and a commitment to the Honest Clean Standard and Mission.

What you'll do:

• Lead the tech transfer process to successfully scale up products from the lab bench to pilot scale, and full-scale production to ensure that products can be successfully manufactured to meet consumer's expectations.

• Partner with the product development team to create robust formulations and product specifications that translate into quality control specifications to track product safety and efficacy.

• Lead product testing of pilot and first production batches to ensure stability testing protocols and critical product attributes are met and maintained.

• With a thorough understanding of our manufacturing technical capabilities, effectively collaborate with product development to ensure formulas are developed with manufacturing capabilities in mind at the bench level.

• Identify novel processes/technology required to deliver new product innovations and cost savings.

• Partner with Sourcing to help manage relationships with manufacturers, including opportunities for product improvement and cost savings opportunities.

• Identify, develop, and implement best practices and SOPs for Process Development to help establish and improve the function's capabilities.

What you'll need:

• BS/MS in chemical engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of CPG or equivalent manufacturing experience (Experience in OTCs a plus).

• Independent mindset with an entrepreneurial spirit in influencing cross-functional teams and managing high volume of projects successfully.

• Combine creative problem solving, consumer insight understanding, and an aptitude for strategic thinking in a fluid environment.

• Ability to motivate, lead, and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the organization to execute projects/programs.

• Experience in applying stage gate processes and product improvement processes against high quality standards.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $79,000- $108,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.

The total rewards package for this position may also include base, annual incentive plan, benefits, retirement plan, equity, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
