Process Control Engineer - DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Coatings Engineering Department provides project support, process and control/integration engineering services.
Our engineers leverage their expertise and knowledge of resin and coatings processes and automation systems across multiple facilities. As a member of this department, you will be working in a team environment on managing projects for new facilities and upgrades to existing facilities. The process engineer's role works closely with the control engineers to test and simulate process control systems for new and upgraded manufacturing systems.
Candidate must have good human relations skills in communicating plans to technical and non-technical personnel. Possess practical problem solving skills and provide on-site support, which will require domestic & international travel, estimated at 10 to 20%. The engineer will contribute to a team effort by achieving results. The primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Developing project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with facility engineers and management. Determine project specifications by reviewing customer requirements & best practices, completing technical studies and preparing cost estimates. Insure projects comply with all safety and local regulations.
Work with control system engineers to test, simulate, and startup control systems for resin and coatings process systems. REQUIRED SKILLS: Qualifications Experience and Education Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, with background and interest in the process industry and the operation of batch and semi-batch processes is preferred.
Skills in project execution and management of project activities are desired. The ideal candidate may have some experience, 2 to 5 years. Functional and Technical Skills
Project Analysis, Design Skills, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Training, and Supervision. Knowledge of the following technical skills is a plus: Understanding and experience with batch and semi-batch processes and the manufacturing environment.
Understanding and experience with managing projects and/or plant engineering experience. Ability to assist with design, implementation, testing, and startup of processes in the resin and coatings industries. Interest and ability to understand and develop Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
Interest and ability to develop practical knowledge of process instrumentation. Understanding and commitment to maintain process safety requirements.
