The individual in this role will be an on-site resource responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting existing and new Process Control systems. This includes Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and custom control applications running in an MS environment, which are used to meet manufacturing needs and production goals. What You Will Do

  • Support process operations by troubleshooting installed systems to improve their effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Ensure the facility's control systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

  • Develop, review, and revise project investment requests to ensure sound engineering approaches and professional presentations.

  • Design, program, modify, and maintain DCS, PLC, HMI, and variable frequency drive systems.

  • Read and understand P&IDs, loop sheets, and electrical drawings

  • Work with DCS and PLC platforms such as Honeywell Experion, Rockwell RS Logix 5000,

  • Perform project scope definitions and manage a wide variety of technical projects

  • Communicate and work with various operational, environmental, maintenance, and engineering levels in a team environment, yet be self-motivated and accomplish individual goals

  • Effectively communicate with internal customers and leadership

  • Support a 24-hour operation with rotating on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 2-year Technical/Vocational, associate degree or higher

  • 3 or more years of professional experience working with DCS and/or PLCs, including troubleshooting, configuration, and HMI design.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word (document creation), Excel (spreadsheets), and Outlook (email and calendar)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent engineering degree

  • Experience working within the pulp and paper industry, including paper machines, converting equipment, conveyors, packaging, or material handling.

  • Experience with Honeywell Experion DCS and Rockwell PLCs

  • Experience with 3-phase motor controls, 480V AC systems, and low-voltage DC systems

  • Experience working with VFDs, servos, and Fieldbus networks such as Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Ethernet
