The Process and Quality Engineer develops, implements, and maintains IEM's quality management system (QMS); ensures IEM's QMS aligns with the current ISO 9001 standard; and ensures that quality procedures and policies are coordinated and fully implemented throughout the organization.


  • Develop, document, and implement the QMS, including standard operating processes and procedures that align to the current ISO 9001 standard. Improve the quality of IEM services by use of a continuous improvement model. Assure conformance to specification and minimize variability.

  • Establish and maintain QMS documentation (including without limitation quality manuals, document controls, specifications, non-conformance records, corrective and preventive action documentation, customer complaint records, internal audit records, and all other QMS documentation.

  • Maintain and update overall quality specifications and standards.

  • Drive implementation of quality control plans.

  • Develop key performance indicator tracking and reporting for continuous improvement related to quality.

  • In conjunction with management, investigate customer quality complaints and report findings. Participate in root cause and corrective actions as required.

  • Assist in the review of the QMS and the formulation of new or revised procedures to effect improvement, reduce cost, and enhance efficiency on an organization-wide basis.

  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits of the QMS to ensure the quality system remains effective, capable, and compliant with requirements and ISO standards.


  • Bachelor's degree in technical field required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality assurance.

  • Experience with and strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems, including system implementation, process development, and audits.

  • Experience in service-based industries highly preferred.

  • Ability to travel for business required.

VIEW JOBS 10/16/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-14T00:00 Job Summary This position will be responsible for developing and leading activities to optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring the reliability of equipment and facilities, bringing new equipment and processes into production, and working with manufacturing leadership to ensure effectiveness of training for new and existing processes. Experience in Six Sigma LEAN technologies required. This is a hands-on position working cross functionally with Production, Quality, and Product Development groups to effectively ramp capacity and bring new technologies into production while following appropriate change management policies and procedures. MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance) * Work with manufacturing and technical personnel to optimize processes to ensure quality, manufacturability, and productivity. * Lead activities to upgrade equipment in order to improve quality, safety, reliability. Specify, purchase, install, and validate new equipment. Take ownership of the change control activities associated with process and equipment changes. * Develops project budgets associated with the procurement of new equipment and technologies. * Work with facilities personnel and equipment suppliers to develop appropriate preventative maintenance programs for new and existing equipment to ensure reliability. Take ownership of the documentation and recordkeeping of facilities equipment. * Develop, implement and sustain reliability best practices to reduce unscheduled maintenance downtime and costs. Work closely with engineers/production staff/quality staff to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety. * Analyze and lead validation and reliability improvement efforts. * Lead root cause analysis process to identify root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations. * Assist in development and utilization of key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance. * Participate in quality investigations as appropriate. Take leadership of technical investigations including designing experiments, testing, reporting results, and making recommendations to prevent recurrences. * Take initiative to observe processes and independently develop innovative solutions to solve problems. Then independently drive the execution of improvement projects. * Lead and coach others in maintaining excellence on cGMP, quality control, and safety. * Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications) * Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent/applicable experience * Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in manufacturing/process engineering within a cGMP regulated industry; knowledge of biopharma equipment and manufacturing processes preferred * Experience with cleanroom operations is a plus KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently) * Excellent communications skills, both oral and written * Ability to specify, install and validate new equipment * Experience evaluating and optimizing work flow and utilizing lean manufacturing techniques * An understanding of validation protocols within GMP regulated industries preferred * Proven project management skills that include leading cross functional teams and effectively balancing project assignments with other duties * Proven experience investigating process deviations and developing corrective and preventative actions * Excellent analytical and negotiation skills * Strong knowledge and skill in the use of MS Office suite; experience with statistical software products (Minitab, SAS, etc.) is preferred ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions) Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Occasional travel may be required. Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems. A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis. Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
