This position is open to current employees of the Department of Juvenile Justice only. This position ensures the protection of the Commonwealth by assisting the courts, holding juveniles accountable for their actions and affording them opportunities to reform in accordance with identified needs, application of the balanced approach, DJJ Standards, and state and local law.

Serves as an EPICS Coach. Reviews EPICS tapes for quality assurance purposes. Keeps supervisor informed of employees' workplace concerns and assist supervisor in addressing these concerns as requested.

Serves as first point of contact for CSU probation officers during absence of supervisor. Successfully develop, implement and lead a CSU staffing process for youth recommended for out of home placement and youth identified as high risk on the YASI risk assessment. Successfully implement and lead evidence based groups for youth under the jurisdiction of the Court Service Unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive working knowledge of juvenile justice system. Knowledge of adolescent treatment modalities; knowledge of juvenile justice system and principles and practices of court proceedings; skill in interviewing and counseling; effective written and verbal skills; ability to accurately assess client needs; ability to identify and utilize community service agencies; ability to interpret regulations, guidelines, and statutes.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field; experience in counseling youth and families. Prior work experience as a juvenile probation officer. Must maintain a valid Virginia Driver's License.

Reporting to the Police Sergeant, Campus Security Officers will be a uniformed presence on campus to promote lawful behavior and protect the safety of students, faculty and staff, and visitors of the Richard Bland College in a professional courteous manner. Perform physical security of assigned building by controlling building access, registering/logging in guests, monitoring security cameras, patrolling building and parking lots, reporting any safety hazards, reporting suspicious and criminal activity to campus police, and enforcing Richard Bland College and the Department of Campus Safety and Police policies and regulations. Campus Security Officers (CSO) may also be assigned to any special events and activities to provide security for that function. This may include controlling the flow of guest into buildings and parking lots, checking guest belongings, ensuring and collecting proper passes and tickets. CSO's will ensure all policies and procedures are enforced in a fair and equitable manner. Minimum Qualifications ?Be a US citizen or legal resident ?Obtained a High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate. ?Be at least 18 years of age. ?Be willing to complete Campus Security Officer training within 30 days of hire date. ?Demonstrated ability to utilize a personal computer using current software programs and telecommunications equipment including fire alarm systems, security alarm systems, video surveillance system, and other security equipment. Preferred Qualifications ?DCJS Certification as a Campus Security Officer. ?Have extensive knowledge/experience in the security field. ?Current First Aid, CPR and AED training certification. ?Completed Incident Command System for Higher Education (IS-100.HE) course by FEMA.
