Job Description:

Description: The Certified Medical Assistant PRN performs various clinical and technical duties and tasks which includes assisting with direct and indirect treatment and care of adults, and geriatric patients.

Typical Duties:

  • Performs basic patient care including EKG and Point of Care testing with consideration for age and developmental stage and needs.

  • Obtains and documents accurate and complete vital signs and patient chief complaint or concerns.

  • Assists in preparing and maintaining clinic readiness including but not limited to chart checks, maintaining neat, orderly, and supplied exam rooms and sets up for procedures as indicated.

  • Documents accurately in medical records, on forms, and in the computer entering appropriate orders, patient charges, and/or other information.

  • Assists with appointment scheduling, retrieving and documenting voice mail information from patients accurately in the patient's medical record and forwarding information and records to the appropriate practitioner, nursing staff, and/or manager/director in a timely manner.

  • Participates in quality improvement activities.

  • Maintains charges for all clinic visits.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
    Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1 year experience practice setting or a hospital based clinic setting.
    Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and maintained current throughout employment.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from a national registry.

The COTA will be responsible for the documentation of patients' treatment and for alerting the Occupational Therapist of changes in the patient's progress. Other duties as assigned. Legacy provides services solely to the senior population in Skilled Nursing Facilities, CCRCs, free standing Assisted Living and Independent Living Communities. We provide services under contract arrangement at skilled nursing facilities and in our numerous Medicare certified out-patient clinics. Therapeutic techniques and programs incorporate principles of rehabilitation and healthy aging, emphasizing home and community independence.
