Creates employee work schedules for the assigned divisions (Nursing, Medical Group Practice, etc). Monitors employee attendance. Adjusts divisions specific work schedules/assignments to ensure adequate staffing levels due to vacations, Workers Compensation, FMLA and/or other LOA.

Coordinates staffing and scheduling; ensuring staffing adjustments for assigned areas is completed in an accurate, timely fashion in order to provide sufficient number of clinically competent staff to provide patient care. Uses cost effective practices following established policies and contract language as needed. Facilitates use of PRN to meet peak census points.

Monitors PRN's to ensure the PRN requirement is being fulfilled. Assists in staff orientation to staffing office. Prepares required daily, weekly, monthly reports according to schedule and requests.

Performs clerical functions as directed including but not limited to scheduling, attending, taking and preparing meeting minutes. Reviews, revises and prepares input of the initial processing of payroll for the assigned divisions (Nursing Division, Medical Group Practice, etc). Monitors and makes recommendations of staffing levels within the assigned division.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School graduate or equivalent with emphasis in computer and/or clerical studies required. Course work in to business/bookkeeping desirable.

    Excellent mathematical skills necessary. Knowledge of automated payroll processing, automated time and attendance system preferred. Previous employee work schedule development preferred.

    Ability to function in a self-directed work environment necessary. Computer literate in windows based environment in order to perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy required. Excellent keyboarding skills necessary.

    Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines required. Responsible for attending and recording meeting minutes as assigned. Performs clerical functions as directed.

Required Length and Type of Experience

  • One year experience in a medical office/hospital based setting required. One year nursing unit/medical office based experience preferred. Experience working with scheduling of personnel, computer based scheduling, time and attendance software preferred.

  • None

Required Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Manual dexterity for computer keyboard. Ability to sit for long periods of time.

    Ability to use a telephone without TTY. Articulate speech. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighting up to 25 lbs.

    Requires corrected vision and hearing at normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
