BASIC FUNCTION:Basic functions include performing evaluations/assessments of referred patients for speech therapy services, formulating and implementing treatment plans according to department protocol. Priority patient are evaluations of those admitted with diagnosis of CVA and those requiring swallowing evaluations.DIMENSIONS:IntermediateNATURE AND SCOPE:Interacts with immediate staff members, physicians, patients and their families, other healthcare providers, Hospital officials, University officials and the general public.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients with a variety of speech, language, swallowing, voice and cognitiveGathers and assures confidentiality of information necessary to properly evaluate and treat referred patients and them performs complete initial speech and/or swallowing assessmentDevelops and implements treatment plan and programs for patients based on diagnosis and prognostic assessment. This includes long and short term goals.Provides information to the medical staff and other health professionals which may cause modifications of treatment plans/goalsMaintains competencies in required area which may include but not inclusive to DPNS, LSVT, e-stim, PMSV use, and instrumental swallowing assessments (MBS and/or FEES).Maintains appropriate records on all patients, noting prescription of therapy, statement of medical necessity, patient problems and reaction to treatment if applicable, as well as treatment plans, goals and other necessary information relative to the treatment process.Participates in quality assessment programs/activities, continuing education and in-services as directed by Clinical SLP SupervisorAssures safety of patients at all timesMaintains confidentiality of patients, families and staff.Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. Key Functions: * Develop a curriculum that can help build communication skills * Assess communication (speech and language) skills through screenings and evaluation * Complete comprehensive assessments in the area of need * Conducts therapy sessions in accordance with Individual Educational Programs and other medical professionals' instructions. * Contributes to the development of Individual Educational Programs and Accommodation Plans. * Responsible for the re-evaluation of classified pupils as outlined in the state rules and regulations. * Participates in meetings concerning individual students when requested. * Consults with the parent, students, members of the Child Study Team, and other staff personnel. * Works cooperatively with community agencies, in concert with the District, concerned with the speech-language health of children. * Facilitates pupil growth and progress toward stated objectives of speech-language therapy. * Identify students at risk for later communication problems. * Complete daily documentation of services and outcomes. * Manage caseloads, services, and scheduling. * Perform small group and individual therapy based on client needs * Collaborate and consult with professionals, providers, families, and teachers. Competencies: * Knowledge of language, speech, and hearing disorders * Excellent and effective oral communication and writing skills * Ability to meet federal and state regulations for licensure and certification * Strong time management and organizational skills * Ability to be flexible and creative * Recognize the need to respond to culturally diverse communities * Understand, utilize, and remain abreast of best practices and therapy modalities within the field * Experience in evaluation, scoring, and interpreting assessments and screening measures Qualifications: * Master's Degree from an accredited university * State of Maryland licensure and ASHA certification required * Experience in the field of speech therapy * Pediatric experience preferred * School-based experience preferred CETC is an experienced provider of services for school-based and clinical pediatric population.
