General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist to join our team!

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will plan, organize, and conduct individualized treatment plans to help patients with speech disorders restore and/or improve communication function. Studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress. Requires Speech Therapy licensure.

Primary Duties:

  • Evaluates and plans therapy programs for each patient assigned as prescribed by physician. Directs and aids the patients in therapeutic techniques appropriate to patient needs.

  • Provides accurate billing information on the same day as services.

  • Employs principles of therapeutic communication, interviewing techniques, problem-solving, and crisis intervention when performing patient care. Handles stressful situations with tact and poise.

  • Records and reports patient progress in consultation with the referring physician as per department policy.

  • Educates patients and family regarding speech therapy plan of care and appropriate home exercise program and documents education in patient record.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech Therapy.

  • SP-L - Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Maryland.
