General Summary of Position:

The incumbent in this position performs a variety of routine clerical functions as assigned and serves as a contact to patient families of surgical patients during the perioperative period. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Completion of some college course strongly preferred.

  • One year of related work experience preferred.

  • Basic English grammar and spelling skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly.

  • Abe to read and understand information about departmental requirements.

  • Attention to detail.

Priority patient are evaluations of those admitted with diagnosis of CVA and those requiring swallowing evaluations.<br />  <br /> <strong><u>DIMENSIONS</u></strong>:<br /> Intermediate<br />  <br /> <strong><u>NATURE AND SCOPE</u></strong><strong>:</strong><br /> Interacts with immediate staff members, physicians, patients and their families, other healthcare providers, Hospital officials, University officials and the general public.<br />  <br /> <strong><u>PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:</u></strong><br /> Responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients with a variety of speech, language, swallowing, voice and cognitive<br />  <br /> Gathers and assures confidentiality of information necessary to properly evaluate and treat referred patients and them performs complete initial speech and/or swallowing assessment<br />  <br /> Develops and implements treatment plan and programs for patients based on diagnosis and prognostic assessment.
