Private Client Service Summer Internship

Program Description

Brown Advisory is seeking motivated, team-oriented students to participate in a ten week Private Client Service summer internship experience. The Client Service internship will provide students with direct insight into to all aspects of the client service aspect of our private client business. Designed to be a project-based program, interns will have the opportunity to gain exposure to all varying functions of our process, including:

  • Prepare materials for client meetings

  • Attend client and team meetings

  • Organize client information

  • Support Business Development and other firm initiatives

  • KYC/Compliance

  • New Account Acceptance and Onboarding

  • Account Opening/Funding

  • Tax Analysis Estate, GST and Gift Tax and tax payments and filings

  • Annual Trust Reviews

  • Asset Acceptance Investment Objectives/Mandates

  • Discretionary Memos and Trust Investment Committee Memos

Internship Requirements

  • Analysts must have strong writing and analytical skills as well as exceptional attention to detail.

  • Students must have completed at least their junior year of college by June 2019.

  • Business-related majors and experience are preferred

  • Exposure to financial planning, or trust and fiduciary responsibility are preferred

  • Recommended GPA: 3.2 or higher.

Job Description We are in search of a leader to oversee Brown Advisory's Private Client Service team across our Southeast Region. This individual may reside in either the Baltimore or Washington region but will travel to our Southeast US based office locations: Baltimore, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Charlottesville, Norfolk, Richmond and Washington, D.C. This role will report to the Head of Private Client for the Southeast region. This individual will work closely with the leadership in each office and will serve as the client service representative on the respective local office leadership teams. The Head of Southeast Private Client Service will oversee entry level as well as senior client facing professionals and will establish trust-based partnerships with Portfolio Managers, Strategic Advisors and Executive management to serve a broad range of client segments and needs. This position will oversee the management of local client service teams, each headed by a team leader. Candidates must possess the professional maturity to handle confidential and delicate client issues, operate in an urgent deadline driven environment and navigate through complex growth based challenges. Job Requirements The Head of Southeast Private Client Service will have a passion for building a stellar client facing team focused on delivering a best in class experience and will constantly re-evaluate opportunities to improve the experience. This position will collaborate with internal partners and have client facing engagements on a daily basis. The ability to convey issues credibly to internal (and external) stakeholders is a must. This individual will have a "finger on the pulse" of the existing client demand/experience, and will embrace the opportunity to recognize/recommend new ideas based on observed patterns and challenges being presented. Achieving success in this role requires a passion of learning and continued ability to see "room for improvement". The ideal candidate will not be afraid to roll up their sleeves, while maintaining a desire to implement long term strategic initiatives. This individual will want to evaluate and be evaluated by specific operational metrics, placing value in the context of historical performance. The position will play a key leadership role in total client experience, client retention, operational improvement, risk mitigation and firm wide project management. It will also be important for this candidate to serve as a client service advisor for a limited number of relationships.This role will interact personally and professionally with truly passionate people in a hard-working environment. Responsibilities * Constantly seeking opportunities to improve the client experience through collaborative and inventive means * Oversee operational processes and controls to ensure annual review updates are executed, updated and documented * Oversee and evaluate the infrastructure of the Client Services teams in multiple office locations with the goal of protecting our "client first" value * Inherit, grow, retain and lead a diverse team of Client Service professionals * Provide clear and thoughtful solutions to the Client Service teams when issues are presented and follow up with key stakeholders to ensure issues have long term strategic resolutions * Work in direct collaboration with the Investment, Operations, Information Technology, Messaging and Compliance teams * Balance internal and external stakeholder expectations through effective communication * Understand "urgency" and apply this understanding to daily management of client expectations Experience/Skills Required * Bachelor's degree required * 5+ years client service experience within the financial services industry required * 5+ years experience in a leadership role managing a team required * Fiduciary experience working with trust accounts required * Experience in an innovation driven organization * Strong technical aptitude * Project management development lifecycle skills * Strong decision making and problem solving skills * Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities to meet client demands * Self-motivated with strong work ethic Benefits At Brown Advisory we offer a competitive compensation package, including full benefits.
