Why did the ghosts marketing campaign fail? You could see right through it! Mid-States is looking for a Private Brand Manager whose strategies are anything but transparent. Our Private Brand Manager will be the steward of our Hardware, Sporting Goods and Power Equipment brands and will be responsible for intimately understanding and creating those brands and their strategies; including: the brand essence, brand personality, brand image and their respective core target audience. This marketing extraordinaire will put the e in extra and will assist in developing marketing plans that effectively position our products squarely in front of our target audience based on their key motivators and market trends. Our goal is to drive customer engagement by delivering value and to gain loyalty through repeat sales and increasing our profitability.
Established in 1954, Mid-States Distributing ("Mid-States") is the leading Farm, Ranch and Home Retail Cooperative. Our cooperative consists of 37 independent and privately held, financially sound Farm, Ranch & Home retailers (Members) who are committed and loyal to their fellow Members and the betterment of all. Help develop, implement and manage a Private Brand strategy and portfolio for Hardware, Sporting Goods and Power Equipment
Manage existing brand and intellectual property assets including Government PTO registrations and working with our legal counsel for compliance
Identify and create new Private Brand opportunities
Work with the Director of Creative + Marketing Services (Shared Services) to develop and execute the marketing plan
Team up with Executive Team and Marketing Services (Shared Services) to implement PR strategies and tactics
Work with the Category Managers to develop plans for merchandising and consumer promotions when needed
Monitor and analyze the monthly performance of the brand, and develop appropriate action plans and recommend next steps
Work with Category Managers to forecast and determine appropriate new products for existing brands
Develop new brands by working with Business Units, Director of Creative + Marketing Services (Shared Services)
Drive and lead the product development cycle and manage projects with Business Units from inception to launch which includes creative briefs, legal requirements, specifications, packaging, compliance, testing for both US and Canada.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience, MBA is a plus
5+ years experience as a brand manager
Private brand and/or CPG management and marketing experience
Work experience in small, lean entrepreneurial organization(s)
Acute ability to influence
Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean office environment.
The job may require occasional business travel for supplier meetings, member visits and tradeshows
